This is a perfect getaway for people seeking to eliminate the busy noise of everyday life. The Cabin is very minimal, which is refreshing when seeking out the forests and natural environment for revitalization.
While in the cabin, with the windows open, you can hear birds chirping and the loud roar of Conglomerate falls nearby( a short hiking trail away). It was April so i'd assume falls slow down later in the season. At night time the surrounding forest becomes almost silent. The forests surrounding did not have much for hiking trails nor any designated or groomed trails. I found this a benefit, as it provides more unspoiled forest and less people. Although i did run into a few friendly fisherman at the falls. Exploring the peninsula was great, as i had never been in this region prior. It was off season(APRIL), but Copper Harbor and surrounding areas still had restaurants/bars open. The cabin is located in a convenient proximity to other townships.
The cabin contained a table and chairs for eating as well as a bed (provide own bedding), a propane stove, and a few pans. With the stove you can cook pretty much anything, the cabin had provided a large cylinder of propane. It was like camping with a few extra conveniences. Just remember all water is carried in!
The wood stove kept the cabin very warm throughout the night. The early April temperatures did drop down to near 38 degrees one night, and with the stove burning it was almost too hot within the cabin.
Also there is solar power, available, we did not use except for once just for an LED bulb overhead. Never tried to use and DC outlets or anything.
The conservation group that worked with me, were more than helpful and very friendly, even made a wood and propane drop!
The dogs loved the area and wandering about the woods. It was very nice to be able to rent a cabin that allowed the dogs, I was mindful to bring towels to keep the dogs clean before entering the cabin, plenty of mud around.
Its a smooth transition to pick up the key, fire wood , and then to drop off and leave. There is plenty of mobile service at the cabin.
Easy to find with the assistance of gps or a mobile phone. also the directions provided were great, one sign was missing which should be replace. The road to the cabin was a bit washed out from melting snow and rain. Would need a 4x4 truck to get back otherwise it is a decent hike in, especially with water.
All in all , amazing place, planning to book again soon!
Cabin was great, everything was just as expected. The people at the Conservancy are lovely to deal with and clearly care a lot about the place and the surrounding area. Nice place to free your mind of all those daily distractions for a few days.
We loved the Conglomerate Falls cabin! The pictures don't quite give it due justice, because it's what's outside that really counts. That said, though, the cabin itself is neat, charming, and ingeniously organized -- and solar powered to boot! Large picture windows help to keep the place bright, and provide a sweeping view of the woods and environs. If you're willing to trade convenience for solitude and natural beauty for a few days, I'd highly recommend this cabin.
