“Fave place in town for Santa Claras”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

People say that El Patio is the best but I beg to differ. This little place is my favourite place to stop by and grab a Santa Clara (or two). Beautiful, juicy and tasty, they are so delish that I probably indulge a little more than I should.

“Empanadas!”
Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

You might have to wait for a while till you get your empanadas if you're there in the busy hours, but it's well worth the wait. Freshly made with meat or chicken, quails egg and olives this is a real treat. Don't bother with the cheese and ham version. Also the dough can be quite sweet...

“Chicken Santa Clara”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

In my humble opinion, this little roadside stop has the best Chicken empanada/salteñas in the city. When I want a chicken salteña I will walk out of my way to go here and order the 'Santa Clara' which is filled with chicken and other yumminess! The beef salteñas are nothing to write home about though. If I want beef, I go to 'El Patio' and get those.

“Not bad”
Reviewed March 1, 2012

El Paso de los Abuelos is a typical, local stop for seated, non-street sold empanadas. The place lacks decoration or character, but has a number of tables to sit at. The empanadas are average in size and taste and are market-priced (about $1 USD). Drinks options are mainly chilled sodas (no fresh-squeezed juices). There are two types of empanadas to chose from, based on their shape and filling (chicken vs. beef). We definitely wouldn't go out of our way to eat these again, but it's not a bad option for a mid-morning snack if you happen to be in the area.
