“A great dancing lights/fountain show”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

The park itself is not much to shout about, although there is a miniature Eiffel Tower which was supposedly built by the same man as the real Paris version. The real attraction here is at weekends at around 7.30pm - a dancing lights/fountain display which is spectacular! It lasts about two hours and is set to music. This was possibly my favourite part of my visit to Sucre!

“Very nice park”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

Beautiful park, with nice fountain shows in the weekends. A lot of locals come here, and there is always someone or something to see. People dancing, sporting, playing, chilling, ... Nice place to spend a day.

“Average park but go see the dancing fountains”
Reviewed April 18, 2012

The park itself is nothing special but on a weekend at 7.30pm there is a display of fountains at the far side to music. It lasts until 9pm.

On the Saturday we visited, lots of brides and grooms arrived to have photos and videos taken. It seems to be a tradition.

“Beautiful park”

Lovely park to relax in, especially when there is a local event happening (e.g. charity fundraiser). The mini Eiffel tower is a lovely touch.

“Wonderful Park”
Reviewed February 24, 2012

Simon Bolivar Park is little less hectic than Plaza 25 de Mayo, more interesting, and more beautiful. Apparently, a wealthy woman who fell in love with Paris had the arcs and mini-Eiffel tower commissioned by the original architects so that she could experience Paris in her home city. Additionally, the gorgeous white Supreme Court building and the historic post office are across from the arcs.

Word of mouth also led us to this park to sample "the best ice cream in Sucre." There are many street venders around with a variety of flavors. Though definitely not the best ice cream of our lives, this was the smoothest and creamiest ice cream we have had so far in Bolivia. We also tried the papas rellenas, like the first reviewer, and highly recommend them. They consist of a hard-boiled egg surrounded by boiled potatoes rolled in a ball, then subsequently fried - unhealthy, but delicious!
