“Great budget stay, good value for money”
Reviewed February 26, 2012

We got one of the warmest welcomes ever here; such a nice family running this place! Besides that: great location, nice rooms and overall a very nice hostel.
Could be a bit cleaner though, and the wifi didn't work. But the owners make up for any shortcomings with their hospitality.

My girlfriend and I stayed ay Christmas time.
After an arrival of chocolate and wine they kindly upgraded our room.
Its a small but very clean, quite, intimate place. With plenty of hot water & extremely accommodating hosts.

Wow . . . a month at Santa Cecilia went by SO FAST. I cannot recall one night when I did not sleep perfectly. The owners, Oswaldo and Maria-Juana were very, very friendly. I really felt at home and I think that was the most important feeling to have when staying in a foreign place.

The only down-side is that they seem to be a bit understaffed. There is only one girl in charge of cleaning and preparing breakfast and pretty much doing everything. When you stay, you have to make it a point to ask for everything to make sure your bed is made, your bathroom is clean, there is enough toilet paper, your breakfast is not late (I had a Spanish course in the morning so I had to be early) . . . it`s really not a big deal to ask, but you really do have to make it a point of asking.

But overall: AMAZING VALUE FOR MONEY!!! I felt so sad leaving Sucre . . . leaving Santa Cecilia . . . my home away from home . . .

Room Tip: I stayed in the orange room right beside the stairs . . . a little bit cheaper (60 Bs) because the p...

The rooms are clean and the bed is super comfortable. The breakfast is the standard tea or coffee with bread & jams/butter. If you are on a budget this can be a great option. The only drawback is that is very difficult to get the wifi signal. The plus - the owners are really nice and helpful.

Room Tip: there are two interior rooms with shared bathroom. These are quieter as the street has some noise.

My husband and I stayed at the Santa Cecelia Inn for almost 3 months and had a wonderful time. The owners, Maria Juana and Oswaldo, were warm, supportive and very friendly. They responded quickly to any requests and were extremely helpful. The living areas, kitchen and patio were always kept very clean and our room and bathroom was cleaned weekly. We enjoyed our daily walks to the Central Park, the Markets and up to the convents with the fantastic view of Sucre. Bolivian breakfasts consist of bread, jam, yogurt and hot tea/coffee. We opted out of the breakfast that was offered to us as we loved eating the fresh fruit and quinoa/amaranth puffs that we got in the market. Sucre was a great city to use as a home base for 3 months and the Santa Cecelia Inn definitely felt like our home away from home!

Room Tip: Two rooms have a private bathroom. All beds are very comfortable.

Exellent hostel, very friendly owners, next to the main place. We paid for a double room 130 bolivianos/night, what was really ok., comparing to the prices of the other hostels in sucre. Exellent kitchen and big living room, incl. breakfast, and friendly atmosphere. Don't miss the market in sucre with all the great and cheap food!!

This place does a great job of sitting somewhere between a B&B, a hostel and a sharehouse - very small, relaxed, but with a core group of sociable people staying from a week to a few months. If you're a little past share-house times, only staying a night or two, or you're looking for a hotel-type experience, I would recommend the lovely Casa Verde next door (we stayed there too, and it also lovely and a bit fancier), but for longer-term travellers this place is perfect!

Our room was basic but comfortable and clean with clothing storage, cable TV and good wifi. Bathrooms were also clean with good hot water, and the kitchen was well-stocked with a nice dining table. A standard breakfast is provided, as were towels and regular cleaning. Really friendly, chilled and just the break we needed on our long journey.

Room Tip: Wifi coverage is stronger in some rooms - if you need it, mention on checkin!
