“Exceptional location stunning view”

As I only made a stop over at this hotel during a business trip , I did not have time to enjoy the different leisure options proposed by the hotel , but the place really looked great .
I was especially impressed by the swimming pool facing the ocean although I did not have time for a swim ( too bad)
By car it is not so easy to arrive at the hotel , depending which way you come in , but there is a convenient parking lot to forget about your car after you arrived .
All the rooms have view to the sea , so you only need to decide whether you prefer view towards Valparaiso or to the other side ...
The business center looked pretty much out of service but I am not sure whether this was due to the Holliday season or not .
we had the breakfast in the lobby level restaurant which also had a nice view .
One thing to improve: hotel in this category should stop charging an additional fee for using wifi in the rooms ,maybe this was acceptable last century , today it looks miserable .

If you can stand the price tag for a suite or corner king room- do it. I just watched two amazing sunsets and worth every penny. Attentive staff. Clean. Gym, two pools, two restaurants, three bars, spa, salon, car rental available as well as car service. Great beds, awesomely located on cliff- AMAZING VIEWS.

Arrived to a bad situation - no reservations! We booked through a third party and they had not properly confirmed with the Sheraton. No matter - while the sheraton could not offer us rooms they went out of their was to get other rooms at other hotels for us and transport. They really understood how tired and stressed we were after finishing the Dakar.
The problem was created by someone else and solved by Sheraton.
When we arrived back the next morning to check in (we had rooms the second day) they took good care of the whole team. And checked back with me to make sure all was well organized.
And the hotel was great - rooms with a sea view ere large and relaxing, food was great and over all ...just relaxing. I did not leave the hotel for 36 hrs because it had all I needed and was relaxing in ever way.
I will certainly be back and highly recommend the hotel. They made our last 2 days perfect.

The Sheraton Miramar is overall a very good hotel in a stunning location right on the ocean. It's apparently quite popular -- several people on our day tour complained that they couldn't get in because it was sold out. Book early!

If you're driving, note that vehicle access to the front entrance is only from Vina del Mar. We drove in from Valparaiso and wound up having to drive quite a way past the hotel before we could turn around.

The hotel is certainly an impressive building, and the good impressions continue once you're inside.The lobby is light, bright, spacious and cleanly chic, with beautiful ocean views. Our room, while on the small side, also had a view to the water. We were directly over the pool, however, so our view was not quite as dramatic as it might have been from a higher floor.

Our room had a few maintenance issues that we decided to live with (the hand-held shower's bracket was loose, so the sprayer kept flopping down; the room's door latch didn't always close properly - minor things). Also, housekeeping did not provide washcloths. I don't know if this was a mistake or the hotel policy. Other hotels we visited in Chile had them. Bath products were a mix of different brands.

The breakfast buffet, which was included with our room rate, was adequate. We had drinks and some very disappointing appetizers in the bar one evening. My empanadas seemed to have been sitting for hours under a heat lamp (they were cold and tough) and my husband's ceviche looked very tired. The view from the bar is so beautiful, though, that we didn't dwell on these little disappointments.

Our biggest gripe was that the front desk staff were completely unhelpful with restaurant recommendations. All they would say was that there lots of restaurants on San Martin (about a 20 minute walk from the hotel). It would have been so nice get a few suggestions from them.

As has been our experience with all Starwood properties, WiFi is free only in the lobby (unless you’re Gold or higher). If you’re leaving the hotel on foot, be sure to leave all jewelry locked away, and keep your cell phone under cover. No one bothered us, but we heard stories from the people on our day tour about unfortunate incidents - although it seemed to be more of a problem in nearby Valparaiso than in Vina del Mar. We had no trouble walking to and around Vina del Mar, but were generally back at the hotel by 11 p.m.

Great experience! Certainly the best hotel in Viña del Mar.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable, same can be said about bathrooms. Bed are amazing. Most of the rooms have a beautiful view of the ocean and Valparaiso Bay. The food is great.
The only "but" is the bar. Extremely, but extremely slow!!! They really need to improve this! 20 or 30 minutes to bring you a drink, then another 15 to bring something to eat that you ordered when you stepped in. Some of the waiters answer your requests like they don't want to be there. And this happens when you are the only one sitting in there! They need more staff.

Overall, amazing stay, the service staff is really friendly and helpful. Definitely going back.

We just had 5 wonderful days at this very lovely hotel--difficult to get to as an International traveller from Santiago--requiring to travel by public bus--hire a car or be driven.

It is worth the effort.

The staff in general are amazing and so helpful.

In reception MONSERRAT at all times smiled and was charming.

At the pool FILIPE was so energetic--so polite to guests---worth his weight in GOLD !

Rooms were wonderful--with balcony--our suite was a pleasure.

Food in the restaurant very much varied in quality however the LAMB was perhaps some of the best i have ever eaten.

I would like this hotel to twin more with its sister hotel in Santiago and run a shuttle bus for which guests would pay--benefiting both properties and enabling international guests more easily to get to Vina del Mar.

The only negative was the BAR at NIGHT--generally freezing and the staff gave without doubt the WORST SERVICE of the entire hotel in my opinion.

Twice we walked out -as the staff would not come to our table--rather they were more interested in talking with each other.--all of this is lost revenue.

If it was my bar would fire them !!

i look forward to returning another time.

TODAY 2014, Miramar in my opinion is the best hotel choice in the Vina Del Mar/Santiago/Valparaiso area IF you want to be ON the water AND see a sandy beach…..however a Hyatt is under construction that will be closer to a better beach AND be both ON the ocean and near a fun town that you may want to compare it & prices when it's finished. We were so thankful that we stayed at the Sheraton Miramar since being directly ON the water – seeing & hearing the ocean waves from our room and the hotel public outside areas: patio & pool area is VERY important to us. The service everywhere in the hotel was great & personable from the desk, the concierge, the bar, the doormen, waiters, chefs, to housekeeping! There is a spa downstairs that I didn’t checkout, but my son did & was amazed by the ocean view window from the hot tub! After walking from beach town to beach town, this was the ONLY hotel right on the water except for a Radisson miles away, but it was not in the best location like this one.….most are across the street. Even if you like to gamble, I would stay here instead of the casino hotel as the casino hotel has a front yard and across the street from a rocky shore ocean. (However the casino hotel IS a closer to the bigger, better beach and the restaurants of Vino Del Mar. Miramar is closer to Valparaiso.) You can always take a cab to the casino from the Miramar or walk there- maybe 6 to 10 min. flat walk. We preferred the Miramar where you can hear & see the ocean and beach.
The hotel restaurant had very fresh fruits, vegetables, & seafood that were deliciously prepared where we enjoyed beautiful views of the ocean from HUGE windows all the way around the seating area. The chef cooked special delicious meals for our daughter who has strict food allergies, too. Check out the hotel pictures of the corner rooms….they have 2 sides of windows that are appealing, but note they are a little smaller than the standard rooms. We really liked standard room 602 as it was simple, spacious room with a beautiful view of the ocean, rocks, waves, sunset and the public sandy beach…..AS WELL AS the view of the hillside around the coastline where neighborhood/store lights twinkled magically at night. (The view was towards Valparaiso. The better views are on the higher floors- request it! All the rooms seem to have a view of the ocean, so I would advise staying on either side of the hotel verses the middle oceanfront if you want to see something other than the ocean. (The hotel butts right up to the ocean so the shoreline and beach views are on the sides and NOT front middle like most hotels)
The hotel bed/pillows were very comfortable. We had a little balcony off our room that that we could have sat on, however the chairs didn't look very comfortable and were very low to the ground. We did enjoy opening the patio door to hear the waves or to go out there and stand to enjoy the air, beautiful views and sounds. The hotel room is furnished more like a 4 star instead of a U.S. 5 star, but that seems to be the case in South America. The hotel didn't appear to have beach chairs/umbrellas for guests, BUT I didn't see any hotels that did! This hotel does have very comfortable chairs (and lounge chairs) and big umbrella tables, too, on the hotel patio/and pool area that overlooked the ocean ….and we enjoyed reading, visiting, playing cards there while we were waited on. (See attached pictures) One of 3 elevators always arrive quickly and there is free WIFI in the hotel lobby with several sitting areas….also we could get free WIFI on a higher floor if we stood right next to the elevator! Or pay for it in your room. We thought the coffee was much better in the bar than the restaurant.
The ocean is chilly in this area because of the Antarctica currents, but the weather was really pretty. We tanned during the day, but needed a sweater at night in late Dec. My teenagers and I LOVED walking for hours and hours during the day along the various beaches in the area as there is a sidewalk that goes for miles and miles…..there were a few short parts that we just followed the road to the next sidewalk again. (Here walking is better than biking, here in my opinion.) There were a lot of activities and market stands along the beaches as Dec. - Feb is their "summer" and more crowded. Along the beaches a walk to the north of the hotel you’ll pass workout equipment, massage stations, umbrellas, soccer, rugby, a Greek theater with aerobic instructors encouraging people to join in, restaurants, bars, etc.
Renaca had a fun beach as did the area next to it. ***When going to Chile from the states, you pay around $160 per person at the Santiago airport to enter Chile with a passport. Chile has one of the better economies in South America. But you may still want to blend in and leave flashy jewelry/things behind. Highly encourage you to hire Michael “the pirate” for a tour of the beach areas or HecTour. Under “things to do/attractions”. It was a great trip to South America….and near the wine country, too!
A tip for Taxi use (when you don’t have luggage) is to have them drop you off at the flower clock and walk across the street to the Miramar hotel. There is a barrier between the lanes in front of the hotel, so the cab has to go a little ways before turning around. I’d definitely stay at the Miramar again and as city people, we are already missing our wonderful experience there….

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor and on the side for views of the twinkling lights at night, beach or rocky sh...
