We got in a taxi at the Atlantic hotel and wanted to go to the metro station Dubai International City late one nigh. He started driving - then suddenly he turned around and drove us back to the hotel and asked us to get out. We had no clue why and since it was me and my daughter we got kind of nervous and we ended up taken the tram and metro home to our hotel.
Since that night we didnt feel safe and only used the metro.
When we were on our way to the airport we were told we could use the pink taxi and that is what we are going to do when we return to Dubai.

I do not remember the driver but will not take dubai taxis any more and won't recommend. Use uber, caream or dtc. We were over charged to double for a 3km ride from burger King to marina. We paid 15dhs from marina to burger King and on our way back with a different driver cost us 30dhs.we did ask why he missed the marina exit and his answer was there was traffic there. Traffic at 11pm? Load of rubbish.

I took a taxi from DWC airport to JBR area in Dubai. The taxis use the official RTA Dubai taxi web app to charge for the ride. What they do is they change the currency to CNY (Chinese Yuan) which is worth about 1.5 times less then AED (dirham) and at the end of the ride ask for the amount in CNY but expect you to pay in dirhams. My example was about 250 CNY which in dirhams was about 93 dirhams. So when asked how much, he said 250 dirham. I said this is CNY not dirham and the taxi driver says, sorry. Check the currency when paying for taxi in Dubai. This just proves again and again that taxi drivers for tourists are scammers everywhere.
