Owner description: Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building. Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship. At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004. Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

“Very busy, but well worth it”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

I last saw this building part way through its construction so it was interesting to see it finished, as with the surrounding area with restaurants and mall.

As per the advice of other reviewers, booking online in advance will save time and money.

The only slight negative taking this off a 5 star review for me is that when we went (at dusk) there were too many people up there to be able to fully appreciate the views from all angles before it got dark. It seems that although you book a set time to go up, once you're up there you can stay as long as you like, which means it gets very crowded. This meant a c.15-20 minute wait in a queue to get a lift back down. Worth bearing in mind if you are on a schedule.

I'd still highly recommend the trip, though, as the views are amazing!

“Great view, shame about the queues!”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

We went this September, the queues were crazy due to not enough lifts working. But once 'at the top' the views were amazing! Although the best part was when my boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed! Made the almost one hour queue back down the tower more exciting! Would definitely visit the Burj again.

“Must do in Dubai”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

A chance to up to the 124th floor of the world's highest building.
Book your visit in advance through internet to have a chance to choose the time of visit. If you're visiting at the last minute, don't worry, there are VIP tickets available and you can still go up at the time you wish.
My favorite time to go is during sunset. Go up 20min before the sunset to see the city in lights, in sunset colors and in the dark.
The whole experience is well organised from staff at every corner, pictures of the development, interesting facts to specifically designed soundtrack for the world's fastest elevator.
A must do when visiting Dubai.

“how underwelming”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

i made a special point to have a layover in dubai to see this building (i'd watched documentaries on it etc.), of course, if you are there you must go anyway, but the view from the observation deck was not spectacular. on the day i went, it was hazy, so other landmarks in dubai, like the palm islands, were not even visible. the local landscape also is disappointing. it's like a more patchy los vegas, with clusters of tall building and then desert. but here there was just a lot more desert in between the tall buildings. so on the one had it was a bit surreal, like towers out of nowhere, but on the other, it was like, so there is a lot of sand and desert with some nice new fancy building here and there...

also, remember to buy your tickets in advance. they are like a third of the price as showing up, and without a reservation you are not likely to get in within a couple hours
