Owner description: Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building. Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship. At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004. Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

“Disappointing access and open air viewing”
Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

If you've seen Mission Impossible u know the attraction and its impressive. But the "experience" less so seems like an afterthought to add visitors. The walk to the elevator is just a place to queue. There are some displays but its not easy to look at and when you finally come to a standstill there is little to look at
The elevator is packed with people and there are two going up taking people and then coming down with the same number
At the top you have a small wedge of area that is outside but can't see down the building for any real perspective and the remainder is inside with digital telescopes to help identify landmarks
An hour to complete and most of this was queuing.
The view btw is only from around floor 121 vs the top that is >160
The best picture I got was sticking my camera out of the small open access and pointing down to get the height
For pictures with the building go to the waterfall in the Dubai mall and walk across re bridge for a great view in the background
If you are going book online which is cheaper and it gets sold out so save disappointment

“Amazing experience”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

Was not sure if I would enjoy travelling up so high but once you are in the lift it is such a quick ride you don't even hear any rattles. Just a smooth ride. Once on the viewing platform you get spectacular views over Dubai. Best to go just before sunset to watch the lights get turned on. You can see the start of the water fountains many metres below. There is an informative display of the build before you go up the top.

“For the money you'd think you'd get closer to the top”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

I had booked in advance on line but my husband, who wasn't sure, hadn't. He ended up joining me but is was near $100 for the privledge on the express ticket.

We had a small bag (shopping bag) with us containing little treats from the burj al arab high tea, in a little box, and for some strange reason - even though our bags, other back packs and bottled water were allowed up... out little chocolates weren't so we had to get out of the queue and check the 10cm square box into the cloak room. Very strange and annoying.

Despite the booking it took about 1/2 hour to get up to the viewing deck at approx 120th floor. They had some facts and figures rolling across screens to entertain you while you waited, but that was over in a minute or 2 and on a project as grand as this you'd think they could fill a few more information boards to keep you occupied and informed.

The experience was a little under whelming when you saw how much building was still above you, and the fact that only a portion of the viewing deck was external.
No tricks like a glass floor and there is no section that appeared to be cantilievered.

They pumped some smelly air freshener into the air inside which I was allergic to, so we had to move quick in the enclosed floor section.

We didn't stay up there for long.

All in all an big disappointment considering the price. Much prefered the CN Tower in Toronto and even the Bay Sands in Singapore.....
