Owner description: Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building. Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship. At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004. Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

we visited At.Mosphere restaurant at the top of the tower. The welcome was too brusque, but after that the serving staff were very attentive and smiley. The food was good but not the best to be found in Dubai. However, the location and views are unforgettable.

I know people call it an expensive affair, a not-so-big-deal and not so many great reviews. I feel differently. I think it is a wonderful experience to visit At The Top, Burj Khalifa. Firstly, you get a first hand experience of how this mammoth structure was built. Secondly, the view is beautiful. They also give a Day, Night, Historic and Live view from the telescopes there of the street down below. The souvenir shop is good and offers interesting merchandise. The entire tour from the start at the lower basement floor of the Dubai Mall till the exit takes about 1 hour. There is usually a lot of rush but not unbearable. It is a place to click pictures – if you are not fond of that activity – you might not like it. Prices could have been lesser – well book in advance on their website. And secondly, brand value makes you pay higher. Enjoy the experience and see what it feels to be right at the top.

Speed up 124 floors to get a great view. Not to miss. Must buy the tickets in advance. It is advisable to buy over the internet because the prices are cheaper.
