“Just in complete awe! Amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2011

I have just returned from a stay at the Palace- Old Town. The location of the hotel is the first plus. Safe, clean and close to most sightseeing outgoings. I found it annoying over at Deira with the constant approaches for copy watches and bags.

The staff are so accomodating. I bought a light fitting and they carried it to my room for me- nothing is too much trouble. It can be a little OTT to be asked how we are enjoying the food every couple of minutes though- but the food was great (espcially breakfast).

I stayed in room 387 and had a great view of the Burg Kahlif and waterfountains. The room was extrememly opulent, and I only paid for a basic room. The beds are the stuff dreams are made of! So soft and luxurious.

At the pool we were treated like rock stars. They fluffed pillows and lay out our towels. They also have cabanas (look like tents from Aabian nights) with large water cooled fans. Great if you want to be out, stay cool and get a bit of warmth.

Yes, it is a little more expensive than most places, but I was completely relaxed and felt very safe- important as I was travelling with my 19 year old daughter.

The hotel didn't appear to be kid friendly, but I guess it isn't catering to that market.

Overall, I would recommend it.

This was my third stay at The Palace. Having stayed at all the hotels in the area (Address Downtown, Dubai Mall, Armani), I can safely say that The Palace is a cut above the rest. It's an oasis of calm set in lush surroundings.

In terms of decor, room furnishings etc, The Palace is extremely similar to other Arabesque dubai hotels like the Madinat and Royal Mirage, but it provides incredible value for money compared to those properties. Service is absolutely flawless...all the doormen, receptionists etc., were helpful and courteous at all times.

The buffet restaurant downstairs provided some really good eats at reasonable prices. Room service was also quite good for a no-frills meal (don't expect any creative dishes on the menu!)

My quibbles with this hotel are extremely minor... The room furnishings are beginning to age (not gracefully), even though the hotel is barely 3 years old. (e.g. wood on the desks is beginning to chip at the edges). My other quarrel is that housekeeping did not clean my room until 3 pm on all the days of my stay. I shouldn't have to call and ask for my room to be cleaned!

Despite these simple issues, I think that The Palace is a great hotel with great staff. I would highly recommend this hotel to families looking to do some shopping and sightseeing. For those looking for nightlife, I'd recommend Fairmont or Armani.

Just back from Dubai after staying at The Palace, The Old Town in room 118. Fantastic hotel. Staff was incredibly accommodating, always present and providing incredible service. Hotel lobby is pleasantly fragrant with roses in a fountain. Breakfast had such a variety of local and Western food. We enjoyed having hummus , olives, flat bread, an a tomato stew every morning. Everything fresh and a top experience in being there. Great being by the pool. Nice setup with covered seating area behind lounge chairs by the pool. Staff immediately knew places to run right by the hotel. Great being within walking distance of Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. Room 118 was on the ground floor facing the lake with a nice outdoor area. No view of the fountain show.

I had to extend my stay in dubai due to illness and changed hotels from beach to the city.
The moment i walked in i just loved it. The doormen were polite, welcoming and smiling. Check-in was quick and I got the room that i wanted facing the dubai fountain. It had a relaxed atmosphere and when the hotel wasat full capacity near the end of my stay I could not tell, it never felt busy. The architechture of the hotel inside and out was of arabian style and I just loved it!. The staff from check- in to housekeeping were polite and accomodating to my needs. They were quick to respond and always seemed happy to serve me. The hotel faces the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, minutes away from Dubai mall and its facilities and about 10-15 minutes away from the airport. The best part for me was the fountain which starts after 6pm and has shows every 20 mins. or so. I saw every show during my week stay. My brothers had the best steak meal ever at the argentinean award winning restaurant in the the hotel. It does probably cater for the business person more but its the best location for dubai city break as its near all the sights and shopping malls, will save on taxi fares.

We stayed overnight in Dubai before the return trip to NZ, so treated ourselves to a night of luxury in Dubai, near the Dubai Mall for last minute shopping, and the Burj Khalifa tower for the last look at Dubai! We had connecting rooms, which we well presented, and had the nice touches of bathrobes and slippers. Walked from the hotel to the Dubai Mall...enjoyed a divine dinner at the mall, overlooking the fountains which were brilliant - a must see!!

My husband and I loved this hotel and the beautiful garden/pool area. A tropical oasis. fantastic staff, lovely rooms with Penhaligon toiletries, nespresso machine and otherwise everything you wish for. The breakfast was one of the best of we have experienced and we enjoyed sitting outside listening to the chirping of the birds.. A real treat all round.

The hotel is located within short walking distance to dubai Mall. Tower Khalifa & fountain show. there are many good restaurants within walking distance. One can stay there easily for three days. It is also within short taxi rides to Deira city, beach area, and other famous places. We also took a taxi ride (80 diham) to visit Sharjah., adjacent emirate of UAE. by the way, taxi rides are inexpensive.
