“A lot of room for improvement!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

I stayed in this hotel in March 2011 and was fairly dissappointed, namely because the rooms especially were jaded, old and tired and the bathroom had mould and could have been cleaned better, our group had lunch on arrival which was not very good at all and since I never ever saw anyone eating breakfast there I followed suit and ate at a local Mcdonalds.

I paid for wifi which did not work (the receptionist did not seem surprised) and I got my money back, customer service is a bit hit and miss although the staff try and seem willing to help, sometimes it is blindingly apparent that they have no idea what to do apart from to smile, nod and to say yes irrespective of the question. some of my party did not fare very well and complained of noise and sub-standard rooms.
On the plus side the rooms were big and spacious and I was lucky enough to have a suite, and the hotel in Bur Dubai is very well located for getting taxi's, buse's or the Metro, however, given a choice I would not stay at this hotel again, as I believe it could be bettered easily elsewhere.

This hotel thrives more on business aquired through tie-ups with travel agents. The property is very old and thus not VFM. breakfast choices are very limited and strictly ok. For the price you pay for this hotel, you can get much better and newer properties. had travelled in april 2012. The location (from an Indian tourist point of view) is very good as it is very close to the gold market and other places like dubai museum etc. but this place is not very safe for solo women travellers.

Room Tip: can get better options than this

What I liked about this hotel is the location. The lobby was shockingly small, but then the rooms were pretty spacious and clean. The rooms overlooked the main road and the sights were awesome.

A good place, restaurant of Bengre Kamath serves good South Indian, the entire locality is full of Indian food options.

Worth a visit. However, the prices may be a little steep.

I had stayed in this hotel as part of a big group. One incident remains in my mind which could have turned really bad, fortunately it didn't. I was alone in my room getting dressed. The door of the room has only one main electronic lock and a simple door latch (which can be opened from outside).
Since I was in the room, the locking system was such that it would be clear to the staff that someone is inside the room. The room has been locked from inside (not from outside). While I was getting dressed, a staff person continuously kept ringing the bell for cleaning. I changed quickly and was about to open the door but to my shock - the staff man actually opened the door using his master electronic key. Then the latch got stuck - proving that someone inside the room had latched the door. But he actually used a stick to remove the latch and walk inside. This was shocking because he knew someone was inside, that someone is not opening the door but he still dared to open it!
I was anyway dressed and planning to open but it was a shock! I told him how dare he, he told me with a smirk on my face "I have to clean the room". I yelled at him - he didn't seem to care, kept smirking. I just left the room - before he tries anything else - obviously it didn't matter to him.

I then went and complained down in the lobby, it was all taken as some sort of joke. Later he was still working on my floor. When he saw me, he started cracking some joke with some of his other staff people.

I am appalled by that staff person and how little notice the people at the reception gave to this.

Hope this review, brings it to their attention!

Apart from this, other things were fine. But this one incident was too big for me to disregard.

Room Tip: Don't count on the swimming pool its quite small and dingy

Hotel Dolphin is a perfect hotel if you are in Dubai for shopping. Its right in meena bazaar. and nearest metro station is Al Fahadi and Burjuman. Hotel had different types of rooms from single to family. Has a swimming pool on 10th floor and restaurant which serves south Indian breakfast. DO consider staying in this hotel.
