Over the past 8 years I have traveled far and wide. This hotel is the first to prompt me to write a review on trip adviser. My wife and I have stayed in 5 star resorts from Asia to Europe, none have perfected that art of service like this Raffles Dubai.
We stayed in a club room, compared to all other club rooms I have stayed in at other hotels, this was by far the best. It was more like a junior suite. Large living area - with couch, large TV, King size bed, walk-in wardrobe, balcony, and a large bathroom - including separate shower and bathtub. All this was trimmed with marble.
The staff were simply amazing, extraordinarily friendly and able to strike the fine balance between fantastic service and being over bearing. For those that can appreciate the art of good service, these people are true masters of their craft.
The hotel itself is Egyptian theme and is very impress upon entrance. Not one part of the hotel could be described as ordinary or mundane. The pool area was not as impressive as others I have seen. Though, in saying that it was very nice and is an always welcomed respite from the Dubai heat. Staff rush to set up your sun lounge with towels, water and iced tea as soon as you enter the area. It has a swim up bar and several spas.
This hotel is not in downtown Dubai. Though, this was not a problem for us. Cabs were not expensive and roughly cost about $7AU to get into down town.
Go to the old town (or old souks) as well as the spice and gold souks. I also recommend getting one of the local water taxies from the old town to the gold/spice souks (they run both ways and cost less than .50cAU). This will give you a different perspective on the otherwise modern Dubai.
I would also highly recommend doing the arabian adventures safari. While this is very touristy, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I have been to several Australian deserts and done a camel trek into the Sahara and the Dubai day trip was still a very enjoyable experience.
Hope this helps someone, happy and safe travels!!!
