“good for a nights sleep”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

This place is not bad.
The service from the staff laves alot to be desired but the overall appearance and cleanliness is ok.
For location, its a bit out the way but its only a 18DH taxi ride to terminal 3 to catch your flight.
there is Lulu hypermarket just 100m up the road that sells almost everything you could need and has a nice food court.

the price is not that good, at 100dh per night in the dormatory.. you can get a very decent room in kuala lumpur for less than that.

Overall its good for a nights sleep.

My first impression of this hostel was a bleary-eyed, grumpy, 30kg luggage lugging one, as 5 taxis at the airport did not know the place off the top of their head and my phone had just died.

The staff, even at 1am, were helpful, however, and showed me straight to my private room (about $45AUD) which consisted of a queen bed, ensuite, TV (equipped with CNN, BCC, MAX and some local channels), side table with two chairs, dressing table with mirror, built in wardrobe and a mini fridge. Clean and well equipped, the air con was very powerful as well.

The main problem I have with it is the location - the metro station is about 500m away but on Friday it doesn't open until 1:30PM, and other days it doesn't open until 11AM. There are bus stops but you cannot simply get on the bus and pay the fare like most western countries, you need the bus pass already purchased (some sort of prepaid card). A taxi into the Marina area (mall of the emirates etc) will cost about 50 AEDirhams...

Also note that a taxi from the airport comes with a 25 AED surcharge, so to get from the taxi to the hostel, although only a few kms, will cost about 45 AED.

Apart from that, the breakfast was suitable, room was private and clean and public transport, when open, is very efficient. There are also many food (mostly schwarma) places around, as well as local shops that are very very cheap (even the service station has drinks for 2-3 AED, and food at similar prices!)

I have been in this Hostel just for one night. it's close to the Metro ( 3 min by walk).
But there is no wifi in rooms, but only in the lobby, and you will be charged for it.
Breakfast is basic.
I recommend it for short term

Advantages of this place is, location, close to metro, airport, supermarkets, restaurants, large parking area, swimming pool, clean and spacious rooms and nice staff. We had visited Dubai during Eid holidays and were staying in our friend's place, we decided to extend our stay and wanted to find a hotel, but no luck. At last YHA gave us a double room, Saeed helped us in this process.
We had on our vehicle, hence, the large parking area was a blessing for us.
Overall we had a great stay. We stayed in Hostel A.

Only negatives we found is, less option for the breakfast, it was not bothering as there are plenty of places around.

Room Tip: Good safe and clean place

I stayed at this place for 3 nights, mainly because it was the cheapest accomodation in the city of Dubai. There are good and bad things about it. First of all, although the cheapest , it is not cheap. Paying 20 euro for a dorm room is above average, so the expectations are high. The building is ok, big dinning room, where the breakfast is served, central air conditioning which keeps the rooms cool, but not at sub-zero temperatures, en-suite bathrooms for the dorms (stayed at 4-bed dorm).
The location is so-so. Somewhat far away from the interesting places, but very near to the metro station (ticket to down town is cheap) and to a very good super market. Money exchange and ATM's are also available near by.
The hostel is overall clean, but mainly because the travellers keep it this way, I did not see much cleaning action and our room was cleaned in the late afternoon, after I told the reception that the toiletpaper was out (since yesterday evening) .
There is no wi-fi and using one of the old and rusty PCs at the reception costs 5 AED per hour.
Bad is, that you have to give them your passport after arrival, and they keep it until you check out. Do not see the need in that, you have to pay the room in advance and for the key they could work with some kind of money-deposit. Unfortunatelly they are not flexible in this issue.
The stuff is at the very edge of unfriendly. Do not expect any information from them, either they do not know or they do not care about helping you.
The breakfast was good, cheese and creamcheese and marmelade. The second day I got omelette too. Coffee and tea are also provided.

I stayed here 2 nights during the summer ramadam of 2011. Incredibly a youth hostel international doesn't serve breakfast during ramadam... even if visitors of this great international hub called Dubai are not muslims. it makes no sense. Staff also are not very friendly at all except one person. muslim laws should be applied to muslims and not to non-muslims. and since it is a international youth hostel people should think about it different ways. the hostel is very good, clean and perfectly equipped. i stayed in a 3 bed dorm. great parking place in front of the hostel, great for people coming with rent-a-car like i did, because if not, well, you are very far away from dubai main attractions and you either need a taxi or take a bus.

this place is not good for families, but should be ok for young single /group of business men or travellers. room and bed is good and spacious but something odd. Toilets are clean. Service is not at all good. passport will be taken by staff who are enough rude even by YH standards. You would not find staff to get the right help when you need it but there are people who will roam around you, laugh at you, stare at you.
