If you are looking for a quiet little accommodation, the XVA is the right place for you. Here you will find the other Dubai. The staff is very polite and friendly. The café and the small gallery are perfect. I felt completely comfortable with the children.

The hotel is excellently located in a pedestrianized zone of old Bur Dubai that was completely rehabilitated.
The hotel doubles as an art gallery with some very impressive works being exhibited.
Our room was located in one of the two patios of the old house. It had a small entry hall with a sofa, a room, and a bathroom, and was very quiet and clean.
The wi-fi was available for free and worked very well.
All employees were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast is served in one of the patios but it is not a buffet breakfast.
The room was comfortable but rather spartan for the price charged in comparison with other hotels in Dubai. The air-conditioned in the entry hall was rather noisy, and the one in the room was directed to the bed, which turns to be rather uncomfortable.
Furthermore, there were two complimentary bottles of water when we arrived. However, despite paying the same, the hotel did not provide more bottles of water in the following days, something that was stated in an A4 sheet of paper they gave us on arrival. During the same trip, we stayed in another two hotels, one in Downtown Dubai and the other in central Abu Dhabi, where complimentary water was provided every day, independently of the number of days we stayed and where we paid a similar or inferior price for bigger and more comfortable rooms when compared to this one.
The breakfast was good but rather dull if you stay more than one night. The core is always the same, as it is the list of items you may ask for.
In sum, a nice hotel to stay for one night but with a bad relation price-quality.

Stayed here for one night with family, meeting local friends for dinner.
I had a lovely stay, everything was very clean and comfortable and had a lovely Arabic feel, beautiful bathrobes provided. I slept extremely well here, we had a lovely dinner in the courtyard, and a good breakfast the next morning. Loved the rooftop sitting areas at night. All in all, a very memorable stay.

I liked this hotel because of its location in the older part of Dubai away from the glitzy lights and high rises..access to the main part of Dubai is only 15 min by taxi and they are easy enough to wave down from near by streets..only note is close to a Mosque so you will be woken by first call to prays about 5.30 it doesn't last to long though so don't let it deter you from this hotel unless you can't get back to sleep after being woken up early

The hotel is worth visiting as it is a beautiful piece of modern art, executed on an old renovated area. It is basically an old beautiful house converted into a boutique hotel. you can visit it, know the history and take pictures. That is it. I do not recommend staying in the hotel overnight especially if you have a car. The hotel has no allocated car plot and you have to park your car far away and pay 4 AED every hour. the hotel reception staff failed to offer alternative solutions or at least to explain this solution to me. I had to figure this out myself after speaking to the area entry guards. When asked the hotel staff, one of them had an attitude of "I do not care". when you stay in the room you hear the sounds of tens of tourists entering your yard and it is quite noisy. The room I had - even though I chose the standard and not the smallest - was very small and the bed was not comfortable. There were mosquitos in the evening with no repellents in the room. I struggled to sleep well. all in all I believe if this place was give a "genuine" attention and care, it would give guests a much more comfortable experience - as a genuine experience would match of the "intention' behind renovating this beautiful old house.
