“A 4 star hotel -- Value for money where you can't go wrong.”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

Very centrally located -- a few minutes walk takes you to shopping and eating areas. The rooms are spacious and offer good city views. The service is of high order. The staff are very polite and courteous. This is a 4 star hotel well worth your stay.

Room Tip: Go for higher floor.

Stayed here for 5 nights on a business trip to Dubai in May, just returned on the 28th.

All of the staff were very helpful and always cheerful.
Very nice accommodation (1004) was a large suite over looking the swimming pool with large L shaped balcony.
Several restaurants with different themes and a pleasant sports bar with TV's.

Being a couple of miles away from the main tourist attractions makes the room cost much lower, but cheap taxi fares may counter this for some guest - others may want to be in the centre of the attractions; e.g. Jumeirah Beach, Dubai Mall.

Breakfast was very good with wide international selection and over looked the pool area. Ate in the Greek themed restaurant on the last night and the food was very and reasonably priced.

Excellent swimming pool / sunbathing area with outside bar. A lot of shaded seating area around the pool as well if preferred.

The only complaint is regarding the lifts. Only 2 which seemed inadequate for the number of guest, floors (24) and facilities on different levels. Seemed to take ages some times for one to arrive.

Other than that would recommend this hotel with the only consideration being its location to main tourist attractions.

stayed for 4 days, Spacious rooms, good restaurants and bars. Having liquor alongside the pool during evening is relaxing.Room service is fine but only problem is the reception area. People there are slow in response and take time . Rest good place to stay and value for money.

We loved this hotel – it’s ideally situated for downtown Dubai (Burj Khalifa, souks, creek etc) as long as you are happy getting a taxi (which are cheap anyway). If you need to use the metro, it’s about a 15-20 minute walk in the heat. But that aside, the room was very comfortable, and the hotel staff were amazing. They were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. There are free welcome drinks which you can take in any of the nominated bars/restaurants and wifi is free throughout the hotel. The breakfast buffet had something to suit everyone including an egg station where you can have anything made to your liking. There are several different places to eat and drink - I would definitely go back there again simply because nothing was too much trouble – the staff definitely made you feel welcome and ensured you were well looked after. Plus, it’s amazing value for money.

Stayed for one whole day after a cruise. No problem getting food and we used the basement "pub". Had a snack at 2.20p.m. and had good service because there was no one else there. We then had an evening meal and used our credit card so that when it was converted back to British money we found it had been really good value. Small outdoor swimming pool and outdoor eating if you wanted. We found it too hot so that is why we went inside. The doorman was very helpful and explained that although I had seen some good shops on the opposite side of the road I would be fined a lot of money if I tried to cross the road outside the hotel. One has to walk quite a distance to the traffic lights and cross the road with them. Not much really to see in this area but taxis are cheap and everything very clean.

Room Tip: Choose a room at top. Good views, no noise.

Do not be fooled by the appearance of the hotel and its 4 star rating. It looks the part but definitely not worth the part. It is value for money, if you think horrible is worth the 100++ odd for a night's stay.

The building is well decorated and tall (24 storeys) but I think that was all that was considered when granting the hotel's 4 star rating.

Located at Bur Dubai, the tower is situated at a very convenient spot. About 15 mins taxi ride, and 30 AED from the airport. Around the district there's a 24hr convenience store and lots of other hotel apartments which are way more value for a nights stay (more on that later).

I was greeted by a horrendous receptionist (presumably) from the Philippines , Get used to it because the Filipinos seem to be a majority race in the Emirates. Not that I've anything against them, just this one particular rude receptionist that refused to even lift a smile and conversed with her colleagues in their own language, all this while handling my check-in with the blazing speed of a tortoise with a missing leg.

The room itself was good. Nice view, adequate decor and comfy bed. However that is where all the pleasantries end.

There is only 1 set of lifts. So good luck if you're in a rush to get somewhere or if you've missed the carriage. On a 24 floor tower, you're going to spend most of you're time waiting for the lifts than anything else. The public toilet around the hotel is weird. The standing urinal is placed way too high. I am a reasonably tall guy and at 1.79m the urinal was already up to my crotch. Anybody shorter would have to use the stall.

Staff are also programmed to ignore you if you're Asian. I noticed the lack of conversation from the lobby manager however he is more than willing to talk to the westerners. The same thing happened at their sports bar "Barrels". I had to wait a really long time for my drink , mind you there were only 5 other customers and 3 staff.

If you came to try traditional middle eastern tea/coffee you're definitely not going to get it at lavaza cafe. Pity as that seems to be the only place which has an acceptable service staff. However the staff do seem overwroked. At times, I've even seen the same waitress at the counter for 28 hrs in 2 days. Whoever planned her work schedule really needs to have her management education background reviewed. Also a tall woman, presumably the supervisor who can also be seen at the pub breathers is rude and unprofessional in her work.

Verdict:
If you're on a budget, check out the nearby hotel apartments, which I've tried before, offering more value for money.
If you want a high class majestic feel, pardon the irony, do not stay at the majestic hotel. Apart from the room, everything else is sub-par.
