The massage I wanted and was advertised on the website wasn't available apparently at the spa which was unfortunate, especially as I wanted a 90min to avail the current 30pc discount. The similar one offered was only 60mins, so I chose a 90 min aromatherapy massage instead.
As residents at Dar Al Masyaf it was easy to book and a golf buggy dropped me at the door. The reception is bright and airy and welcoming but I really dislike the darker small maze like style of the access to the changing room, relaxing room, toilets etc.
The outdoor pool is beautiful, small but deep and chilled. Loungers comfortable and was very quiet. The relaxing room is a little impersonal with all loungers facing each other. It has a lovely page pool also inside.
The treatment rooms are rustic and cream and wooden and of natural style, but lack some warmth and comfort. The towels definitely need replacing as they were rough on the skin and definitely need to be more fluffy/soft!!! I would have liked to have seen a later choice of aromatherapy oil, patchouli, ginger or grapeseed were offered, and I would have like to have seen a Rose or lavender added at least also. The Talise branding over the towels I also find a bit commercialised, you almost expect a huge list of ' what you need to buy' when you finish!
The therapist I had was very good, professional and thorough, but would say the massage was very average. Not a huge difference from one available at a nail spa or salon. The room was also so cold, and wasn't conducive to nice warm relaxed muscles.
The misting of the face just at the end was a nice touch, and nice to reawaken, which, hadn't someone walked into the room and let the door slam on the way out would have been appreciated.
In essence, not exclusive enough, very pleasant, but many far better spas in Dubai which makes you feel less like a spa attached to a huge chain of hotels.
