“Excellent resort hotel for those who don't mind being outside the city”
Reviewed May 5, 2010

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and overall, had a very enjoyable trip.

The first thing to get out the way is the distance of the hotel from the main city. It is about 25 mins by car to the city, and around 40 mins from the airport. If you want to be in the city centre, this probably isn't the hotel for you, unless you are prepared to spend time (and money) in cabs. However, if you do want to leave the resort, there is a regular free shuttle bus from the hotel to 3 or 4 of the main attractions, including the big malls and the Atlatis hotel. The hotel will also organise cabs or hotel cars (which are about 50% more expensive, so specify 'local taxi' when you ask the concierge to order a cab!) at about 5 minutes notice.

However, if you want to spend most of your time in the hotel, especially in the day, the hotel is fantastic.

The hotel is split into two sections, with the Palm Tree court being the quieter (and more expensive) bit of the two. The extra money gets you a seperate reception, breakfast restaurant and your own bit of beach and garden. There is also a seperate pool in the Palm Tree part of the hotel - this is open to all guests but is quieter and less crowded than the other pools. The hotel is very well laid out, so even when the hotel is full (which it was when we stayed) it doesn't feel crowded or noisy.

The service, as you would expect from a Dubai hotel, is faultless. The restaurant and bar staff were always pleasant and cheerful, as were the ground staff and gardeners who always said hello. The hotel has resident peacocks which wander the grounds and the staff will take photos of you with them, or encourage them over with bread. A lovely touch which you probably won't find in any other hotels!

The room was lovely, which a big terrace balcony facing the beach and a big bathroom with Elemis products. There was plenty of storage space, as well as a decent sized lounge area, which I think has a sofa bed (although we didn't use it, so it would be worth checking with the hotel...)

There is also a good choice of restaurants. We ate in 3 of them, and were pleasantly surprised at the standard of food, especialy in the buffet. It isn't cheap, but fairly good value for the standard of food.

There is a good selection of lesuire facilities, including a riding centre, clay pigeon shooting and a large gym with tennis courts. There is also a kids club and seperate pool for children, and there were quite a lot of families when we stayed.

In summary, a good value resort hotel with a nice beach (the building of the new Palm has stopped, but you can see it on the horizon, so it could be irksome if it recommences), spacious rooms and friendly staff.

Just returned from an 8 day stay! First impressions we were a bit worried that it wasn't for us, however, once we had a good look round and saw the various options for eating and drinking we were relieved. We did the All inclusive which allows you to go to all the restuarants with an allowance and anything extra you pay for, the wine selection at dinner for this All Inclusive was very good. Our favourite restaurant was Signatures, the food was excellent! The White Orchid was very good too. The staff at the hotel were really lovely. The beach was spacious with plenty of loungers to choose from. It is a way out from the city but taxis are well priced, about £15 to get into town, this is a quicker option than the shuttle bus, which was good but just took a little while to get to places.
Also, don't be alarmed if you hear strange noises in the night, the peacocks are very tuneful at this time!!
Lovely hotel with options for everyone! Enjoy!

Superb hotel. Staff excellent. Grounds are superb - very relaxing. Great to see the peacocks strolling around. Pools superb. Our 3 year old had a superb time at the kids club. Definitely would look at going again!

The upgrade which included free snacks and soft drinks and a free happy hour made all the difference, and a butler was good too! However not bringing room service on the morning of our departure, then charging £100 for it when it wasn't what we asked for, didn't have time to eat it, and it was supposed to be included in the price, really set a sour note. Also, charging for the kids menu when meals are included wasn't nice.

We stayed at the Jebel Ali resport for a week and have to say it was the best holiday we've ever had. The resort is fantastic, the staff were brilliant and there is plenty to do. Don't worry about the construction that others have commented on, it's miles away from the resort and you can't hear a thing. 3 pools, a beautiful beach, excellent restaurants and the perfect place to have a quiet chilled holiday. It's about 30 mins outside of the busy area of Dubai, however you can always jump in a taxi. We did a city tour with the big bus company - well worth doing. Then you can get dropped off back at the hotel again for a cocktail whilst listening to the live music on the beach. Only downside was that entertainment finished a bit early (around 9:00pm) however if you go to the seventh floor of the hotel, there is a bar with live music that goes on until 1:00am. The rooms were clean and a good size, the Italian Restraunt downstairs was good, however we found the best place to be the White Orchard Restaurant which is over near the Health Spa. I can't really be critical about this hotel at all as much as I have tried to do so.... Go and enjoy, you wont regret it I'll vertainly be heading back!

we stayed here back in November. we were doing 1 week at the jebel ali and then 10 days in the maldives all inclusive. we were on full board here and i loved it so much that i was sad to leave for the maldives. The beach was beautiful and peaceful, the rooms were fab and the full board was very flexible so that you were given an allowance to eat in any restaurant. I did not like the buffet at all so we just went to all the others which were all different and had different atmospheres. The sports bar was nice to sit on the terrace and look at the boats and just take your time over and the beach cafe was really nice for sitting on comfy sofa's and watching the beach. This hotel really was up to par for me, so much so that the kuredu in the maldives where we had a beach front villa seemed a bit of a let down. My husband played golf here a couple of times and really rated it and it is about a 40 minute drive into dubai but the hotel provide free shuttles that drop you right at the entrance of dubai mall and tell you a time for collection. we also did the dubai creek sunset dinner cruise which is run by the jebel ali and we even used our full board allowance towards the cost. How good is that! . They also have a gun club where we had a lovely meal and they shuttle you to it, well worth a visit. I will be going back although dont know when as have a few holidays booked for the next year. Believe me when I say I like luxury and this place couldnt have made me any happier. To all you people waiting to go here, have an excellent time.
