There is something to be said seeing something as surreal as a ski slope in the middle of the desert (not to mention a shopping mall) however the real treat here is to meet the only King Penguins in the world who are able to interact with humans. While the VIP experience is pricey, the experience is priceless. You are able to learn about the penguins, feed them and interact with them as the make their 'march' through the ski area. This is a great educational program and truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Another of those things that had to be done, but I wasn't expecting too much.
The queues to get in were agonisingly slow - too many people with too many choices asking too many questions about the too many options. Something they definitely need to improve - maybe a dedicated line for skiiers only as most of the people were taking their little kids to the snowpark.
However, once on the slope, it was great. Good snow conditions, not too crowded, and great fun. Two hours was just right.
My only complaint was the behaviour of some of the young lads who were skiing too fast and in some cases rather recklessly, and were not being challenged by the staff who were on site and should have been reining them in.
But apart from them, it was great.

I had never been skiing before so why now while vacationing in Dubai. I had to take a ski lesson of course, however I found the instructor very informative and easy to understand. It really is more like ice skiing rather than snow skiing however I enjoyed it anyway. Only down side, it does have a fairly hefty pricetag.

What a great idea! One minute you are sunbathing in 40 degrees and the next minute you are wearing thermal socks and gloves and skiing down a black run. Great for kids or if you fancy a break from all the hotel bars/clubs.

I have walked past it many times since it has opened and never had the desire to go in and try it till my boyfriend asked to go while on holiday with me in Dubai. I don't no regret it for a second. Having never skied before they ask how competent you are at skiing and I of course said I had done it many times before... not such a good idea at the beginning. We got an all day pass for AED 300 rather than AED 200 for only 2 hours, an all day pass is much better as one only starts enjoying it after 2 hours!!! there are baby slopes, medium slopes (not sure of the correct terminology) and the black slope which in many proficient skiers minds is very good for an indoor ski slope. There are other activities to do for those who don't want to ski and you don't feel like your in a mall for a second other than the people flat nosed against the mall window panel its pretty realistic and enjoyable! will go again before I hit the real deal. Be smart get an instructor for an extra fee, I had one for free luckily by bf could ski and was a great coach!!!
