Wuao wuao and wuao!!!!!! It was an amazing experience even though it was for only 30 minutes but I loved very second of it and screaming too driving up and down the red sand dunes.
We even went on a camel ride right by the entrance before we rented the quad bikes. It was scary but fun at the same time and I highly recommend it to everybody from young to old.

Everything is expensive in Dubai, but cancel that trip to the shopping mall, cancel that swanky dinner - this is one activity you MUST put on your to-do list. We booked the full day with a tour operator - the safest way to do it, always someone there to pull you out if you get stuck. Up to the top of the ridge....over the top & down into the bottom.....wayyyhayyy...... round and round, up and down, turn back to pull another suv off the ridge....thrills, shrills and screams of excitement. Although in my 60's, I was like a big kid on the biggest big-dipper - fun, excitement and laughter all the way. Amazing views from the top - the sheer vastness of it all - awe-inspiring. Didn't want it to end. As we came off the dunes, the skies went black & an almighty thunderstorm descended - so dramatic, amazing to watch, even their thunderstorms are done to excess!, but was thankful we had reached the road, and not still stuck in the dunes like many others. Arrived at the bedouin camp for the dinner and show, but it was cold, everything was wet & had to wait for things to dry out before it could go ahead. Having my small grandson with us, we decided to cut it short and go home; however, other family members have done the bedouin camp since and have said the food was very good and the evening very enjoyable, so recommend it. If anyone can get to the Big Red, go and do it - its a lifetime memorable experience. Incomparable. I am asked here to say who this visit is suitable for, but can only pick one - it is suitable for everyone - young, old, families, friends, couples, singles, and all ages. Go, everyone, go.

A must do (at least once). the driver is no tnext to God there. God is next to your driver. to take the maximum fun of the drive, sit in the front seat. If you want to make it VERY VERY VERY memorable, sit in the last seat of the SUV. the experience will go with you to the grave no matter how hard you try to forget.
take a package with belly dancing (can go with kids. no hankypanky unfortunately) and avoid the quad bike ride. the quad bike is a little too steep and a little to short for the money they charge. moreover, by the time you understand how the damned thing moves, the time is upppppp.

Great fun when with some friends from the UK to show them the desert, went to one of the local dune buggy shops, paid about 500AED for a 2 seat buggy, very fast, loads of power = lots of fun in the sand !
