Just got back from the GHH last Friday and had a fantastic time. The hotel is absolutely wonderful. We were met at the airport by the hotel car which we had pre arranged and taken to the hotel and got checked in straight away. Check in took place in the lounge in the lobby of the hotel, we were told to take a seat on the sofas and were given cold towels to freshen up and a lovely strawberry drink whilst we were waiting for the keys to our rooms, it was all very relaxing, no waiting around in ques. We were then taken up to our rooms. We were in a club level room, number 3304, a corner room with a very large balcony with excellent views of the beach, the Palm, the Burj and Dubai Marina. We had a lovely large bed which was so comfortable, sheets felt like silk! Plasma TV, workdesk with stationary. Bathroom was lovely and large, big bath and shower which were seperate (didnt use the bath unfortunately, wish I had now!), Bulgari toiletries, robes, slippers and lovely big bath sheets. My parents and brother and sister also in club level rooms, 3501 and 3502, 3501 is a corner suite with kitchenette, seperate living and bedroom areas and 2 bathrooms, no balcony. We were celebrating my dads 50th birthday so think they must have been upgraded to a suite because of that.

We headed straight up to the club lounge on the 44th floor which again was lovely, they serve pastries, tea, and soft drinks throughout the day, at 3pm afternoon tea was served which consited of delicious finger sandwiches (chicken with shallots/fresh egg mayo/beef/salmon etc), homemade scones with clotted cream and jam and your choice of tea or coffee and fresh juices. Then at 6pm canapes and drinks are served until 8pm. The canapes changed daily (both hot and cold, the tempura prawns are a must and also the fresh cooked crisps) and were absolutely delicious and you could choose whatever drink you fancied, we stuck with champagne every night, it would have been rude not to! I think we actually spent our first 2 days in Dubai chilling out in the club lounge eating and drinking! Would def reccommend the club level rooms with the access to the lounge. Canapes and fresh fruit were also delivered to the room daily, try the chocolate brownie, mmmmm!

The Hotel itself is very impressive, decor is lovely and its absolutely spotless, no expense spared even down to the plasma TVs in the toilets! There are fresh flowers in all the public places and the lobby is candle lit at night and looks beautiful. Also if you go outside at night and look at the hotel, its lit up in blue neon lights and looks very impressive. Service was outstanding. I made the hotel aware that we were celebrating my dads 50th while we were there and as i said before they were given a suite and on his birthday he received a birthday card, cake and bottle of wine, if you are celebrating an occasion be sure to let them know and im sure they will go out of their way to make to even more special. The pool area is lovely, padded sunbeds which are set up for you when you arrive at the pool and fresh fruit and water is brought over to you. The pool does get quite shady from about 2pm but its quite welcome to be out of the sun, if you want more sun then head over to the Meridian in the free shuttle and go down to the beach, i never quite beleived anyone when they said the water was like a bath, i lasted about 30 seconds in the sea as it actually felt hotter in the water than out! dont go in if you want to cool down!

Restuarant wise, we were on a half board offer which we got free when we booked our room with Trailfinders. This allowed us to eat in Sloanes, which is the buffet restaurant and again couldnt be faulted, food was lovely. Lots of different food stations, all food cooked to order, try the chicken tikka and nann bread! They also have oysetrs on the seafood section which were lovely, ask for them and you can have as many as you want. Sloanes is also where breakfast is served, again lots of different food stations with fruit, cooked breakfast, omlettes and eggs made to order, smoothies, pancakes, you name it they had it. If we didnt choose to eat in Sloanes then we could have a credit of 80 dirhams each to be used at any of the other restaurants on food only. The only other restaurant we ate in was The Bhudda Bar, again absolutely delicious, its quite load in there but very impressive, def a must see. Being on the club level meant by the time had numerous glasses of champagne and lots of canapes from 6-8, it came to dinner we couldnt actually fit much else in!

My mum and dad had treamtments in the spa, and said they were lovely, I used the sauna, steam and jaccuzzi and hot beds, it was empty in there and felt like you had exclusive access to it.

The GHH really had everything you could have wanted, you didnt really need to leave the hotel if you didnt want to. We didnt notice many small children while we were there, i think if you want something more for the kids then Le Royal Meridian (sister hotel) might be better. The only small niggle that bothered us was the background music in Sloanes, one CD seemed to be on repeat the whole week were were there and the music wasnt really appropriate as backgorund music, it could have been a little bit more chilled and varied. House music at breakfast with a hangover wasnt quite what the doctor ordered but other than that I couldnt fault the hotel one bit and will def be back again, already looking forward to that chilled glass of champagne in the club lounge!

My husband and I stayed at the GHH the last week of July before transferring to Al Qasr for our second week.

The main reason we stayed here was due to the fact we were offered free half board and a free night.

Normally I am not a lover of half board offers as I prefer to eat in different places however I was not disappointed.

The food was lovely and the service in sloanes was great. We could use other restaurants and we got a DHS 80 per person credit towards our meal.

We ate once at Buddha Bar (if you want to eat on a Thursday or Friday you have to book a table in advance) - I would recommend Buddha Bar, especially on a weekend.

Our room was not huge but very modern and well equipped - we were on floor 30 - overlooking the palm . (tip - we only paid for the cheapest standard room but as the hotel was low occupancy we were given room 3004 which is completely sea facing, you cannot avoid the construction work unfortunately but I reckon this room had one of the better views)

There is a lot of builidng work going on but we were aware of this, before we went and it did not really bother us. You can hear it though.

We used the pool at The Royal Meridien a few times, it was nice but the service is not a patch on GHH. however a word of warning the pool at GHH does get shaded in the afternoon.

Overall I thought the service throughout was fantastic. It is really good for those travelling without kids as the pool is fairly quiet through the day.

If I had to find fault, the only thing I could complain about is sometimes the room was not cleaned until after 4pm, even though we'd been out of the room all day.

However I think this is due to the fact the hotel was only a quarter full and they had less staff servicing the room. Very minor complaint.

If you want a more 'resort type' holiday or if you have kids i would not recommend this hotel at all as there is no kids club at GHH and not family orientated.

We moved on to Al Qasr for the second week (which I've done a seperate report) and for us it was nowhere near as good as GHH but the madinat complex is in a better location and no building work.

However taxis are cheap in Dubai and it is easy enough to get to the madinat complex to look around.

We have stayed in most of the 5* hotels in Dubai now and I think the GHH is one the best for service. We would definately return.

Just returned from a weeks holiday in Dubai. Stayed at the Grovsner House hotel on the marina and wow what a place.
From the moment we arrived we where greeted by the most efficent hotel stay i have ever dealt with. We were checked in and upgraded to a suite within minutes, whilst our luggage was taken to our room we were given cold drinks and towels which believe me you will need, however the super cold air con does help in dubai. We were shown to our room by the room butler who explained the features and how everything works. There were 2 wopping great plasma TV`s on the walls and computerised lighting, alarms air con etc. Bedroom is amazing, bed is huge and bath is massive with a seperate walkin shower. We were given free half board with meant you could eat at sloanes resturant and the food is fantastic however you do have to pay for drinks. Everything you do is charged to the room so no need to worry about tipping etc just sit back and listern to the 2 girls playing piano and violin whilst you eat and chill out. The staff are fantastic and you do not have to lift a finger from the second you arrive until the second you leave. There is a curtisty bus to and from the le meridian across the way which you can use there hotel free of charge (we prefered staying at the grovsener) this is where you gain access to there facilities if you want to and the beach. The beach is clean and the sand is about 100 degrees so dont forget your shoes our you will have very sore feet. If in fact if you can make it to the sea without burns on your feet then the sea is like a bath and crystal clear. Taxis are parked outside the hotel and are very cheap, check out the mall of the emirates, bur juman and Ibn buttata if you like shopping, chanel, gucci, dior you name it they have it. The ski dome in the mall of the emirates is unbeliavble who would think you could ski in the dessert. Take a boat ride up the creek is a great way to see the city and then strole round the gold souk area and haggle. We travelled in August which is there low season due to the very hot weather however not unberable and less busy which makes it more posssible for upgrades etc, email the hotels if celebrating birthdays etc and i promise you they will spoil you rottern. All the hotels are stunning and apart from the Burj Arab which is a real wallet breaker then the Grovsner house must be one of the top hotels in Dubai i cant speak highley enough about it, however the Mina A Salam is also amazing and right next to the Burj Arab so check that out too.

20 Thank powelly
