We arrived at Dar Al Masyaf late in the evening after a 14 hour flight. We were exausted and after a quick check in, they called a boat to take us to our "Arabian Summer House". We took the boat and went on. Everything was surprisingly amazing: a hotel encircled by water channels with scenic lighting and romantic boats (the so called "abras") connecting the villas. Dar Al Masyaf is one of the hotels at the Madinat Jumeirah Resort. The beach is right in front of you and Burj Al Arab, the mythic hotel, is on the premises. The compound has many different restaurants and you'll never fell bored or tired of exploring its facilities. Don't miss the hotel souk, with many stores and cozy places for quick eating or elaborated meals. Our villa had a buttler, Mr. Safik, a very special and helpful gentleman from Chennay, who made everything easier for us and provided delicious cocktails at the Villa daily happy hour. Cheers!

Room Tip: I don't have a specific suggestion of a good room. I booked an "Arabian Summer House" and it was excelent, with a balcony over one of the very many water channels. Bathrooms are awesome at Dar Al Masyaf. But, it is a resort hotel. If you have problems with hotels with lots of children, please do book somewhere else.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on TripAdvisor and it is never too late for us to hear from our guests.

I am pleased to read that you had a memorable stay with us at Dar Al Masyaf in February this year. We pride ourselves in delivering a unique arabian experience for all our guests, and I am therefore delighted to learn that we were successful in achieving this for you.

Your kind acknowledgement of Safik from the Butler Service team is truly appreciated and it is with great pleasure that I am able to recognize particular colleagues or teams that provided memorable experiences to our guests.

Once again, I appreciate you recommending our hotel and I do hope we will have the pleasure and privilege of welcoming you back to Madinat Jumeirah, hopefully in the future.

Sincerely
Anne-Marie Houston

We've stayed at Madinat Jumeirah now around 8-10 times including both Mina Salam & Al Qasr. However we've settled on the DAM villas for the extra seclusion & tranquility they provide even when the resort is extremely busy as when we recently stayed. Staying here is more than just rooms & restaurants - it's the whole experience. I'm not inclined to walk around many hotels at night just to look at them but I do at this one. We've also never returned so many times to the same property with so many other nearby options available. But there's a reason Madinat Jumeirah gets booked out while other nearby hotels have vacancies.
From the palatial or traditional architecture to the gardens, room fitout, public areas, private pools & waterways - all combine to provide a relaxing ambience after what is usually my hectic work schedule on weekdays. It's more like staying in a small town than a resort.
My sons & friends rendezvoused here from Sydney & London to meet us for several days' holiday and were blown away by the resort & service standard. They didn't want to leave. Individual villa butlers largely isolate guests from lobby crowds apart from when leaving or returning to the hotel. The happy hour in each villa is a nice touch before dinner.
Yes, like any hotel there can be little glitches like the delay in our check in due to staff being overwhelmed by arriving guests. Or the delay in buggies picking up our baggage for the same reason. Regular travellers will just accept these events can & will occasionally happen. They were certainly forgotten after being upgraded to a suite.
We went for room service breakfasts which were nicely set up on the villa balcony overlooking water - far more relaxing than crowded restaurant buffets.
On the subject of restaurant buffets - we are constantly underwhelmed by the dinner offerings at Arboretum despite its architectural wow factor. If it's a buffet you're after, take a buggy to the far better Latitudes at JBH & it's well worth the scenic ride. Or some of the many other good restaurants in the resort.
Madinat Jumeirah is nearly 10 years old now & starting to show its age in a few places. The rooms are slightly rustic anyway and it's not a big issue. Let's hope the management will keep up the maintenance and standards so the experience continues. If so we'll keep returning for a good few years more.

Room Tip: Unless you really must be near the beach, the Arabian or Gulf rooms are a good option at lower cost. They often overlook waterways or gardens.

We stayed at the DAM for 4 nights back in August as part of our honeymoon. After a slightly disappointing start with delays and confusion at check in, in recognition of this we were upgraded to a beach front villa (No1) with a room that overlooked the sea and the burj......from here on things picked up and the rest of our stay was fantastic. The room was perfect and the little touches we received due to being on honeymoon were really appreciated such as the chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. The on call butlers were all brilliant and made sure that all of restaurant reservations were made, the free drinks you get at the villa each evening are also another bonus that we really enjoyed.

The beach was a great place to relax and kick back....we loved the non alcoholic fresh fruit cocktails that really cooled you down, they were perfect. We even managed to squeeze in an afternoon at wild wadi, which guests get in for free and was really fun

We loved the restaurants that came with the summer flavours offer and our favourite was the meal at sagretos - it was the best Italian food we had ever had.

The whole resort is top draw and getting whisked around by the little abras was really romantic and made the stay all the more special.

Overall we loved Dubai and we would both definitely return to the DAM for another stay...

Dar al masyaf is several clusters of private villas nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the sister hotels Al Qasr and Mina a Salam. Access it by buggy or abra, definitely use the abra, it makes it all a bit magical in the night.
We were lucky to have a one bedroom suite, traditional Arabic decor and very ott. The bathroom come walk in closet is huge!!
The king size bedroom is heavenly and if you have friends or family in Dubai the living dining space can accommodate a large party of people.
The perks of these villas are the on call butler, the private pools or the sea on your doorstep.
Not forgetting the free bar in the villas courtyard for pre dinner drinks.
No matter where your room is situated you are 5 minutes to all the bars and eateries of the Madinat.

I would like to start by saying that Madinat Jumeirah is a high quality hotel complex with decent service and decent accommodation. It has always amazed me how they manage this property - everything works, somethimes better, sometimes worse but you always feel some sort of support.
We have stayed in Madinat for more than 6 years and it has always been cosidered by us as one of the most "predictable" hotels which is very important when you travel with kids and do not want to see any "surprises". However this time it has become obvious that Madinat requires some improvements - the interiors are tired, the food in the restaurants is average, the service (though in general very good) should be sharpened. But the most importantly you start feeling yourself as a part of a complicated hotel mechanism not as a valued guest. Everyone is smiling and trying to help you out but at the same time you feel lost when you have to wait for the ordered food for 30 minutes or when the quality of food leaves much to be desired.
Nevertheless we like this hotel and we will probably come back one day.
