We were in the main building of Al Qasr with a room facing the ocean and the water way. It was perfect in every way because we have 2 girls aged 6 and 8. The main pool is lovely and very large. Amongst the resort, you have plenty of smaller intimate pools if this is what you fancy. We preferred the main pool as it was fun for the children and steps away from the very large beach that boards the resort. Throughout the day, staff pass around with complimentary pops and drinks. We thought this was a nice touch! Also, we NEVER had to go early in order to secure a lounge chair for either the beach or the pool, even though the resort was fully booked. Within the resort you can walk, take the boogie or the gondola boats. It all leads you to the other Jumeirah hotels, the souk where you can shop and eat, or the Wild Wadi water park. Needless to say the girls loved the later. We stayed for a week and had a chance to eat in several restaurants. Whichever restaurant you chose, the prawns, steak or organic salmon were always a fantastic choice. Service was impeccable- at all times. During our stay, we went on a safari (Arabian Adventure), shop at the Dubai (the best) and the Emirates Mall, saw the fountains and went to the TOP. All were memorable. We will have a found memory from our trip, probably the best so far with the girls! We surely will be back...

Room Tip: If travelling with young children, the rooms in the main building are perfect as you do not have to...

Having stayed at Dar Al Maysaf last time we decided to try the Al Qasr this time around. Our reasons were that we felt that we hadn't really used the "extras" - namely having drinks in the evening -( just because it's free is not something that I am bothered about) and we only used the villa pool once . We have 2 children and spent the whole day on the beach as a base. My husband also found the golf buggy/abra thing a pain and felt it took to long to get from one side of the resort to the gym for example. Having said that the children loved the golf buggies and boats! I think it also depends where your villa is.
So we went for Al Qasr - we arrived at about 9.30pm which was much much better than arriving early in the morning and not being able to go straight to your room. I don't really feel like hitting the pool/beach with grumpy kids after a night flight.
The room was fine - not as big as Dar Al maysaf but that was not a surprise. It was very clean but looking a little bit dated . The dvd and telephones did not work properly and the phone remained so despite alerting the hotel about this.
We had a fantastic time as usual - i thought the beach had too many loungers on it and it felt as if they had increased that in the past 2 years.
Food and service round the pool and beach were superb .
We ate mainly at Arboretum which works well with small children - because of the variety but also the novelty factor. Not sure it was as delicious as I had remembered it ...but all good.
We also ate in Segreto whci was very good and they catered for our children well . However there were some really badly behaved children in most of the restaurants that we went to. Parents not paying attention or caring at all that their kids were noisy or getting in the way. Not the hotels fault though.
Shimmers - good

spa - great
kids club - its very good and I was very happy to see that the older ones can no longer run in and out .

All in all a good trip and we will be going back again. However I will be going back to DAM this time.Despite being closer to the room at AL Qasr and being v lazy on holiday I was lugging stuff around and would have prefered door to door service from room to lounger !!
It works for us _ I am not interested in Dubai just the hotel and the beach is lovely and options at the hotel are good.

We visited for the third time recently, this time to celebrate a special anniversary - with our kids, partners and granddaughter arriving a few days later.
We chose the Al Qasr because its the stuff dreams are made of and wanted our family to understand why we love this hotel so much - they weren't disappointed and fell in love quickly with everything this wonderful place has to offer.
Half way through the holiday my husband was taken ill whilst in our room, I immediately picked up the phone shouting that I needed a doctor urgently - what happened next showed just how well this hotel is run. Within minutes we had a doctor, paramedics and a duty manager sorting everything and we were ushered through the service areas into a waiting ambulance without a hiccup.
Thank you so very much to these wonderful people, to be taken ill in a strange country is a dreadful experience at the best of times but the management assured me they were available at any time to help and messages of support were left numerous times over the coming days.
Thankfully he did recover well and we were able to continue our holiday and enjoy the beautiful restaurants and amenities available to us- we ate somewhere different each evening and loved each and every one because of their menu choices and friendly staff, although Pai Thai will always remain my favourite!
Special mention to Jeffy who serviced our room daily and the lovely Marie who booked our restaurants for us each morning then would always shout hello to us when we saw her in her afternoon role.

Yes, the entrance with it's prancing horse statues is impressive flanked by the ferraris parked up...but we arrived at 1am tired after our flight and were shuffled into the tiny old reception area with a reception desk that belonged in a 3 star hotel....after waiting some 15 minutes we were offered glasses of lukewarm (tap?) water and attended by what seemed to be 2 or 3 inexperienced and unsure teenagers......i still cant believe that those 3 were responsible for the first impression you get of this hotel!

The room: not as shiny and stunning as the photos on their website......nice, with great views but the main impression is.....this needs renovation ....looking tired and so not worth the money you pay. Oh and good luck with the ironing board that slopes to the ground making even the most simple iron a challenge!

Breakfast is good...nothing special but no complaints.

Overall impression of this hotel....disapointed that it is starting to look tired and if money isnt put in soon to fix the old lounger covers and towels in the beach area, replace old carpets and old sticking balcony doors etc.....this will be rapidly overtaken by the much newer and slicker hotels in dubai.

Impressive building, staff on the whole are friendly and welcoming but overpriced for what you now get......here's hoping this grand old hotel gets the facelift it's starting to need.

We thought the Al Qasr was the perfect way to experience Dubai. The Al Qasr gives guests an Arabic feel as opposed to just a Dubai location of another American chain. The property is a large, clean resort with multiple pools, a high end beach and plenty of F&B options. Service was solid throughout our stay.

As soon as you arrive at this property, the first impression is simply "WOW". With its size and waterways running through the entire property it is very picturesque. The rooms are very spacious amd we were lucky enough to get a room on the 5th floor with amazing views over the resort to "Borg el Arab" and the beach.

However there are several factors which really bring down the standard of the stay. Firstly, the resort is huge and the elevators are located a long way from the rooms. Added to that is the fact that the only way to get around the resort is by Abras "small boats ala Venice" or golf carts, means that in some instances it took 10 - 15 minutes to return to our rooms. God help you if you forgot something in the room and had to go back and get it. I also saw a family trying to get a pram into one of these boats which was quite a struggle.

Secondly, the beds are not comfortable at all. Myself as well as several others that were staying with us found the mattresses to be very soft and difficult to sleep on. The pillows are very large (approx 70cm L by 90cm W) which resulted in my feet sticking out over the edge of the bed.

Finally, breakfast was ordinary with little variety. The omelettes were great but that's about it.

Overall the resort is very beautiful and has some great facilities. The service (other then the front desk) was fantastic. Our rooms were made twice a day. Cleanless was very good and housekeeping are very polite.

However due to the above pitfalls I will not be returning to this resort in future.

Room Tip: Sounds obvious but upper floor rooms in this hotel are way better then the others. My friends were l...

Wow! Friday brunch was an amazing experience from the grand driveway with golden horses, to the endless food and drink, great staff and brilliant entertainment.
We were seated quickly despite long queues down the staircase, it was very organised. Our lovely waitress served our champagne and from then on my glass was never empty, every time i took a sip it was re-filled.
Such an amazing choice of food sushi, roast, thai, indian, chinese, cheese, tapas, pork room, salads, bakery, it was mindblowing and everything i tried was beautiful and perfectly cooked. There were so many desert options it was hard to choose. The vodka bar was popular, but there were also whiskey and gin bars.
The entertainment was superb with a guy on guitar and a woman singing everything from amy winehouse to rhianna to bruno mars, they were excellent and really added to the atmosphere.
It was a mixed crowd, lots of women very dressed up, some more casual, same for the guys too.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful setting, great atmosphere, amazing food. Worth every penny, would love to go again
