We joined a small, intimate tour with Ahid (2 couples in a Ford F150 extended cab - a very solid and confidence inspiring vehicle). Ahid runs the company - while he has a staff and multiple vehicles, he himself leads at least one of the tours each day during the peak and comfortable Nov-Apr season. There are many tour operators for desert safaris, but if you are looking for a private, bespoke experience, contact Ahid at Beyond the Dunes. He also specializes in events for corporates or small groups (e.g. an embassy). The basic package will cover driving through some sites along the way to the desert (e.g. camel race track, up and coming neighborhoods, camel farm), then intelligent (ie. not crazy) dune bashing, before setting up camp in a very quiet part and remote of the desert, where you'll barbeque, enjoy the sunset, photograph serene desert scapes, sand surf, and relax with drinks and shisha and stargazing on beautiful cushions and carpets (ie. you will be away from the large group caravans and their noise). While it's possible for Ahid to arrange for a falcon show and dancers, this is not part of the standard experience as the company is focused on relaxing, quiet and contemplative desert visits. If you're looking for a big, loud, prepackaged party with lots of other people and dancers/etc, this is not the company to go with -- but if you're looking for a serene, authentic, and private experience, then Beyond the Dunes (which is perhaps a bit pricier than the big package tours) and Ahid's very personalized attention and service are strongly recommended.
