It was my first time at this large restaurant in the heart of old Dubai on Jumeirah Beach Road by Spinneys and the mosque. We had not booked a table but the restaurant is on 2 floors including a terrace on the third floor so it was not a problem to accomodate us. The tables are rather large as the majority of customers are locals who come with family and firends. Next time, we will book a table as the ground floor is much nicer than the 2nd floor which became a noisier and noisier room as people started to come.We didnot have to wait for too long for our waiter to come and take the order. In the mean time fresh warm puffed bread was served. It was very nice. Our large order came in but due some miscommunication, half of it was wrong. Our friends had to wait for over 20mns to receive their order of lamb stew which is very good. We also had doner kebab, iskandard kebab, humus with pastrami and coban salad. It was all very good and the portions are generous and can quite easily be shared as they cost around 65dhs each.As recommendedby another poster, we tried the Ayran (yoghurt) drink but were quite disapointed by it. It was very watered down.It is notheing like the ones we get at Iran Zamin. We finished with tea and turkish coffee which I have to say was the best one I have had so far in Dubai, even without sugar it was not bitter as it can often be.The service was slow but the restaurant is so large, it is not so surprising.I think in a place like this, it would be best to go for mezzes and lahmacum (turkish pizza). In fact i saw many locals going for these options. All the food come at once, can be shared and nibbled over a soft drink!
Overall it was a positive experience but book ahead and ask for a table downstairs!
