Great but expensive with balcony and beautiful view of the Gulf and Jeremiah beach area. The beach and pools are nice with an area of the beach roped off where you could swim 50 m laps. Beach food service was good and Brazilian restaurant was delicious

If you don't have a car you are dependent on taxis to go anywhere. The hotel is isolated on the Palm. It's good if you want to just lie on the beach and relax. If you want to see the sights of Dubai the Fairmont Dubai hotel is a better choice -and half the price

We normally stay in the Madinat complex of hotels - Mina A Salam etc, however there was a special offer at the Fairmont The Palm so we decided to give it a go. Informed hotel of our early arrival and our special occasion but unfortunately the room was not ready for a few hours even though the hotel seemed to be empty - never mind. Location is good, just on the Palm, taxi from airport was 100AED. There's a free shuttle to the Mall of the Emirates but the timings are a bit sporadic.

Staff on the whole are superb - very helpful and always smiling. Had a lovely large room overlooking the ocean which was great - had tea and coffee and complimentary water, large bathroom, superb bed and being a new (<1 yr old) hotel everything was in good working order. Think it is definitely worth paying a little extra for a room overlooking the sea, we saw the rooms facing the road and they seemed very noisy.

Nice selection of pools and large beach with plenty of loungers. Free water on the beach a nice touch - and unusual for Dubai hotels who like to charge you a ridiculous price for water normally - well done Fairmont.

We were on a half board deal so mainly ate at the buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast selection good, tea and coffee often cold which was the only downside. Dinner buffet also excellent especially the ice cream station! Also ate at Frevo, the Brazilian restaurant which was also very good although the service was a little slow and lacking in attention.

Decent gym which could do with a little more equipment - lots of free space, but had everything you needed for a good work out.

Problems at hotel - the majority of the beach is shells and not nice to walk on - a layer of nice sand would make the beach superb! On the final day the hotel was a lot busier and the staff seemed to struggle to cope - maybe they were not used to a fairly full hotel but things got a little chaotic for breakfast and around the hotel in general.

Overall, a superb stay, very relaxing and very impressed with the hotel and location. Compared to the Madinat, the staff are probably friendlier, the price of food and drinks is less whilst retaining the same level of quality. The attention to detail isn't as good, e.g. we stayed in the Dar Al Masyaf for 2 nights at the end of the trip and they were more attentive and recognised the fact we were celebrating a special occasion. The beach needs softer sand so the Madinat wins there and there is more to do at the Madinat complex with the Souk, many restaurants and Wild Wadi waterpark......but you will not be disappointed with a stay at the Fairmont the Palm and if you can get a good deal it is great value for money for a 5 star hotel.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a 'view' room so that you're overlooking the ocean - far more rel...

We stayed at the Fairmont, the Palm by accident (lucky accident as it happened!)! We were staying at another hotel but bailed out because it was so poor, and our fabulous travel agents, Destinology, got us in at the Fairmont at short notice - well done Heather and team, and thank you!

The greeting at the Fairmont was both professional and friendly and we immediately felt welcome and that we had arrived at a hotel in which we would feel comfortable, so after a false start, our holiday began!

We had a deluxe sea view room on the fourth floor which was spacious and airey, light and well appointed. The views were terrific over to the marina and city, especially at night when the buildings were lit up. I have to say something about the furnishings - they were exceptional, with soft close drawers, top quality finishes and leather accessories, even to the superb location of the Nespresso coffee maker and bijou kettle - all purpose made, to such an extent that I couldn't find the on/off switch for the Nespresso machine! Got it in the end! The bathroom too was high quality, fully marble tiled with a rain shower as well as an ordinary one, separate bath and separate toilet and bidet. The toiletries were top notch too. Everything was laid out so neatly it seemed a travesty to disturb them! Not a great deal of hanging space, but we managed. The beds were sooo comfortable! You are also provided with copious amounts of water both in room and at the pool. Turn down was a moveable feast - that is it seemed to happen at different times. No chocolate on pillows though!

We had dinner in the Flow buffet restaurant which was fine, it's a buffet after all, but all the staff were friendly and the chefs happy to cook to preference. The desserts were myriad and about a dozen different flavours of ice-cream - dessert heaven! Breakfast next morning was also in the Flow, with extensive choices and a double egg station (always a good sign - fewer queues!), smoked salmon, bacon, and loved the oven dried tomatoes, the flavour was so intense! Fresh orange juice and whatever coffee you wanted all served with a smile, nothing was too much trouble.

I visited the gym a couple of mornings - well equipped and well staffed. I could have asked for demonstrations of the kit, but didn't need to, but the fact that there were staff on hand was quite reassuring and not standard in all holiday hotel gyms. But my physical highlight was when I switched to early morning swims in the outdoor lane pool! With the Lifeguards!!! They were preparing for a swimming competition, but let me join in. We chatted and swam and became friends very quickly - they do a tremendous job having to remain alert, in the sun, with often little to do but maintain conceentration. I take my hat off to them and thank you Sasanka (?) for allowing me to join in with your boys, it was a privilege. And, despite everything I ate that week, I actually ended up losing a couple of pounds in weight!

The ambience, views, service at the beach was second to none. Towels appeared as if by magic along with a cool bag with 2 cold bottles of water. We ordered burgers a couple of times which came very quickly and were delicious. It would have been a nice touch if iced lollies or fruit had been brought round as they do in some other establishments, but I'm being picky here because everything else was superb!

In the evenings we tended to eat at the Seagrill restaurant which has a mixed fish and meat menu although it is billed as seafood. Everything was cooked to perfection and we would recommend the lamb, surf and turf and rib-eye. And not forgetting the Coconut creme brulee which was yum, but would have benefitted from more Coconut! Mark, the restuarant manager came and chatted to us a few times and made some good suggestions of where to go in Dubai. He made sure that we had everything that we needed, as did Raju who asked the chef if my partner could have pan fried scallops as a starter - she could, and she did, twice! They were plentiful (6), and delicious. All the staff in this restaurant went the extra mile to make sure that the dining experience was as good as it should be and, under Mark's direction, made a great success of it as far as we were concerned. We ate there 5 nights out of 7!

Overall our stay at the Fairmont was a resounding success and this we attribute to the staff who were sincerely friendly, not just superficially so. When we left, the lifeguards and towel boys gathered round and, with much laughter and shaking of hands, we departed, sad to have to leave. But we will return the Fairmont has been added to our list of prferred destinations in Dubai and we joined the Fairmont Presidents Club to make sure that we get notified of offers - Maybe see you in Feb/MArch 2014 - can't wait!!

Room Tip: Deluxe sea view fourth floor or above. Join the FPC for free wifi in room.

This was our sixth trip to Dubai, our first stay at Fairmont The Palm but certainly not our last!. The smart contemporary style, great beachfront location and superb service all made this trip very enjoyable, but best of all the fantastic service from the very attentive staff makes you feel really valued as a customer. Many thanks to George, Chandra, Elizabeth, Bridget, Jeffrey, Kaitlin, and others who looked after our needs so well. We chose the Fairmont Gold option, which we would highly recommend. The gold lounge offers full breakfast, light lunch and early evening snacks and drinks all included, you really don't have to eat anywhere else, but if you like to venture out of the hotel, we would recommend the Dubai marina area. A short taxi ride from the hotel, with lots of shopping and restaurants where you can sit outside and admire the yachts and bright lights of all the tall buildings. We found you could eat well for under £10 a head. It's worth choosing a hotel room with panoramic sea views, as sunset reveals all the bright lights of Media City and JBR. The pool area and beach were also very well organised, immaculately clean with plenty of very comfy loungers, the pool guys are also very attentive and rush to lay out beach towels and they even give you a cooler bag with complimentary bottled water. What more could you ask for? We can't wait to come back. The Foster family

Stayed for 2 nights (which was all the time we really needed in Dubai) in October. Family of 2 adults and 2 kids that fit comfortably into a 2 Queen bedded room overlooking the water.
Dubai has a "family challenge", there is only a very small number of hotels that allow 2 adults and 2 kids in the same room. Most have a maximum of 3 persons. Glad to say that Fairmont the Palm was the exception.
The standout was the pool area - lovely and relaxing. the average daily temperature was 36 Celsius in October. Rooms were not frigid cold, but a welcome relief at the end of a long day.

Positives
Patisserie - for a reasonably priced breakfast and snacks
Staff - service was exceptional, welcoming yet unintrusive
Rooms - modern, comfortable and welcoming

Negatives (not hotel related)
The Palm is quite a distance from the main areas of Dubai and the traffic is getting worse
Cost of food is getting more and more expensive
Shopping - don't bother
Dubai is now a huge urban sprawl and you can see the best sights (Burj, Old Town, Souk) in around 2 days.

We continued onto Abu Dhabi for 5 nights and really enjoyed that more. Relaxing, family friendly and less busy.

Overall, loved the hotel and facilities. Over the destination

Room Tip: You need to have an ocean facing room - otherwise you could be in any urban sprawl

I just spent 3 days at this wonderful property in Dubai. What can I say...if you want the ultimate in luxury and pampering...this is it.

It started from my arrival. I didn't have a small enough currency to pay my taxi. The bell staff paid him and then went to the front desk to break my larger bill. This set the tone for the entire stay. Always anticipating my needs is what this place is all about. At check in the front desk staff walks you to the elevators and explains all of the amenities of this incredible property.

I truly took advantage of every aspect of this hotel. Restaurant staff and food was excellent. Room Service the same way. Beach side and pool staff was so attentive and friendly. The spa and it's services were top notch.

If you want a pamper yourself get away this is the place to stay in Dubai.
