Owner description: Touring through the modern and progressive city of Dubai, Dubai still retains much of its original character with the ancient dhows and creek side not forgetting the wind- towers of the old houses in the Bastakiya District. The tour starts from the Jumeirah Mosque, which is a landmark of Dubai followed by the Jumeirah Beach, Jumeirah Hotel - the jewel in the crown of Dubai - to Nad Al Sahiba race course where you will see herds of camels. We then make our way to The Zabeel Palace, the family residence of the ruling Al Maktoum family after passing through the little Manhattan (posh area of Dubai with innumerable sky scrapers) and the towering World Trade Centre.

“Want a roller coaster ride in the desert!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

My husband was the one that was adamant that he wanted to go on a desert safari, dune bashing trip, so we did.

Our driver, Shabaz, was defnitely making sure that we had an experience that most guests don't. He took us out to some dunes that were away from where most of the desert safari companies take people for some standard dune bashing. He made us feel like we were on a roller coaster! Perhaps families that would like a more subdued trip should request this in advance to avoid feeling that perhaps it was a bit too much, but we are adrenaline junkies, so we liked it.

The location of the BBQ was a centralized location that all tour companies drop off all their people. We arrived earlier than most and that gave us a great chance to ride the camels, and do the dress up with the Arabian garb in the dress up tent; that was hysterical.

I didn't really care of the man with the Arabian hawk; his charge of 10 AED for 1 photo with his bird was extortionate, but he would lure you in and then tell you the price. Avoid that, unless you have money to waste. We mostly enjoyed the hookah area and henna paintings and our driver made sure to advise us to get in line for the buffet, which helped us be first to be served. Others waited quite a while for their food, but thanks to Shabaz, we didn't.

Watched the belly dancing show, which had lots of lights and in the end, some crazy characters on stilts that made for some good laughs.

Got home in at a reasonable hour with the last 10 minutes of dune bashing in the DARK! I knew Shabaz knew the roads like the back of his hand, so my family really enjoyed the last adrenaline rush of the night.
