Pick up time was between 3.30 and 4 and we were picked up at 4. We went to another hotel and picked up 5 others making it a full 7 seat 4wd. The driver was just that, a driver, not a guide and did not speak to us throughout the trip, he was more interested in his mobile phone and music player. Our first stop was an optional activity of dune buggy driving, which were unaware of until arriving at the buggy centre. The cost was around $100 (AUD) for 20 minutes, note that there were large crowds waiting for the buggies and already on the course. It took is about 40 mins to get here and the stop was for 45 minutes. Following this, we then went 4wding for approximately 30 minutes. I'm not sure if it was because there were kids on the tour or if our expectations were too high but there was little dune bashing and only a few hair raising corners, hills or descents. In fact driving on the highway was more scary. We then drove another 30 minutes to Rayna's dune campsite. There were two camels for camel rides (complimentary) and photos (professional photos approximately $3 AUD). The camel rd was a 10m circle but seeing as camels aren't that comfortable this wasn't an issue. For food you were given chips on arrival and unlimited softdrink. You then have to wait another 40 mins for all the other 4wds to arrive before watching the entertainment of 1 belly dancer, 1 male dancer and then the buffet was on offer. After this was a horse dance. We were dropped home at 10.30. Overall I think the evening dragged on too much it was 6.5 hours, about 2 hours of activity and only half an hour driving in the dunes.
