If you are in the area it's worth a look round this museum. Even if it's just to watch the video which tells you about the history and development of the city, very interesting to see how quickly things have moved on in the last 100 years.

We went to see this museum and were quite pleased to see an attempt at some culture. The museum did explain the rise of Dubai and what an amazing creation it is, love it or hate it, it has to be admired!

We hired a guide for the day and he suggested we start at the Dubai Museum. We almost said, no. But we are glad we agreed. The Museum was clean and inexpensive and while small, it gave us a good overview of the area and its history.

DUBAI museum is a museum in name only, depicting history of few decades, artifacts of a normal arabian household not older than 1950s and a culture still existing in interior arabia. A small place , which can be sufficiently viewed in half an hour unless you start watching the documentaries attempting to enhance your stay in the place. the atmosphere inside is cozy due airconditioning.

I am from Iran which is very rich in history so going to a museum and watching some swords and broken jars is not very interesting for me ... Maybe this place could be fun for european visitors but despitenall the effforts they had went through to make it a representative of ancient dubai it looked very boring to me ... If you are looking for something historical to see and enjoy come to other side of persian gulf and enjoy shiraz , perspolice and isfahan etc ...
