“Probably the Most Honest Museum in the World”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

This is a rather small museum located in a former fort. It's a must-visit venue in Dubai, as it allows to more fully appreciate the spectacular progress that Dubai has had since the founding of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since 1971, particularly in the past 20 years. The Dubai Museum makes no pretenses about a past that never was, and showcases how they worked to turn Dubai into a commercial center preparing actively for the time when oil runs out.

“Refuge from the heat”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

Even if you do not like museums, you will like it: it is placed underground, at the place of the only old building in Dubai (a small fortress). It presents a few original artifacts, and plenty of reproductions to understand the pre-1970 way of leaving. Recommendation: near the museum there is a reconstructed old-quarter that includes a few cafes and shops. The wind-towers are specially interesting.
