This past stay is my third stay (total of eight nights) over the past six months, and the hotel is becoming my 'go-to' when visiting Dubai on business.
It has a good location for business (relatively speaking), walking distance to restaurants, short taxi ride to the major shopping mall, very good breakfast, and some decent on-site bars (go to the sports bar in the lobby). Nonsmokers be aware that smoking is pervasive in the bars here.
The rooms I've stayed in have been very clean and well appointed with nice size bathrooms.
The staff are very service oriented and genuinely friendly.
I will return to this property on my next trip to Dubai.

From the location, which is close to the metro station ,or the rooms with a wonderful view to Al shaikh zaid road and the lovely and friendly stuff!! I also loved their music and radio selection and the extra pillows in the drawer! Finally the spa is amazing, You can't go wrong with a Fairmont!

Reviewed July 17, 2013

Have been staying at the Fairmont Dubai since it opened up in 2002 as a swanky hotel at the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.

Even though I am a Fairmont Presidents Club Platinum Member, I will base my review on my latest stay there in April 2013.

As I stay there almost 7 to 8 days every few months, my comfort level at the property is self-evident, however, there are points certainly for the benefit of TripAdvisor Members I like to point out:

1. Rooms/Suites:

I normally stay at either the 1-Bedroom or 2-Bedroom Suites but have also stayed on occasion in a Standard Room.
The facilities are now getting tired and the housekeeping standards have slipped somewhat. The entertainment system i.e. the TV System needs seriously to be upgraded. Previously, all suites/gold floor rooms were provided with the Bose CD/Radio/Clock system which is now completely outdated and some of the rooms now have even a lower end Sony.
The bathroom amenities were also changed to Rose 33 which is not my particular favorite. Additionally, its actually difficult to squeeze out the shampoo/conditioner/shower gel. Once used, the color of the plastic bottles make it probably difficult for the housekeeping to realize that they need replenishment. The solution for this is to request the Housekeeping to provide extra bottles for the duration of the stay to avoid any confusion.

The laundry has now moved away from the hotel which means that for corporate travelers one would have to think ahead should one require urgent laundry or pressing facilities.
The rooms/suites on the whole are spacious and the beds and pillows right up my alley. The housekeeping provides ionizers for the rooms on request now but its maintenance slips occasionally. I have on occasion noticed that the tissue box and other amenities are not replenished.

1. Food & Beverage:

a. Room Service: Menu needs to be seriously updated as there have been no changes since the opening. The Best Breakfast bet is still the Colonial.

b. Cascades Restaurant: This restaurant is basically where they serve buffet breakfast. The spread is lavish and colorful. It also serves as lunch and dinner options for groups.

c. Spectrum on One: Superb restaurant where one can mix and match continental, far eastern and indian cuisines. They have a great bar towards the back of the restaurant which is less busy and great for in between cigarette breaks.

d. Exchange Grill: Probably one of the best steak restaurants offering the finest meat selections. Sauces served with the steak are excellent. My favorites are the horseradish, veal jus and the red wine sauces. Service is superlative.

c. Cin Cin: Great bar and cigar place. Walk in humidor with a great selection of cigars. Service is great but can get crowded particularly on the weekends. Make sure you reserve in advance.

d. Bridges Bar: Nice place to hang out. Great background music. As this is a Sports Bar it can get a bit noisy when there is a soccer match. Food is good. Particularly like the chicken wings.

e. Cafe Sushi: Nice Sushi served in conveyor belt style. Used to be an excellent place to hang out for a quick business lunch. Chef has recently changed and the quality has suffered somewhat. Still like to go there though.

f. Cafe Pronto: Great for a sandwich or a coffee.

g. Nine: Bar that is open in the evenings adjoining the pool. Would give it a miss.

There are two other nightclubs at the hotel under a different management one is the Cavalli Club (over rated, expensive) and Cirque Le Soir (never been in there)

3. Spa: Excellent services and fully equipped. Great jacuzzi, sauna, steam and cold plunge. Nice fitness area and swimming pool.

4. Business Center: Previously located on the second floor has shifted to the ground floor and has from a top end business center been reduced to non-existence. The management should seriously look into this.

5. Elevators: There are six elevators to service the hotel side but beware that they can be a bit slow!

6. 33rd Floor Gold Check-in: Nice but can be a bit tardy to get up there, especially with the elevators being slow. I prefer to check in at the ground level.

Room Tip: Try the 1-Bedroom Suite facing the city!

Stayed at this hotel in July 2013 for 5 nights. Came in for a training course. This is a truly beautiful hotel, wonderful caring and helpful staff, always wanting to know what else they could do to make your stay more enjoyable. The environment is beautiful, the rooms very very nice and the bed, soooo comfortable. The hotel is well situated right next door to the World Trade centre metro station so getting around was easy. There are taxis everywhere if you choose not to use the trains. There is a supermarket down the road and fast food restaurants close to the hotel. Room service the first night in the hotel was so cool. They wheeled in a nicely set table laden with a sumptuous meal for me! Breakfast is really good too with a wide variety of choices to make.
This is one hotel I would definitely come back to! My tip for intending visitors - sign up for the hotel's loyalty program - the President's Club - and enjoy free Internet access throughout your stay!

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors are excellent. Join the President's Club to enjoy free Internet acc...

I selected this hotel for my Dubai stopover from New York to Singapore for two nights, and it turned out to be a great decision.

The facility was beautiful, and the staff was extremely pleasant and courteous and went out of their way to help. The hotel is conveniently located just next door to the World Trade Center metro station.

The fitness center is very well-equipped and well-maintained; the hotel also has two swimming pools. Before reserving this hotel, I had learnt of free wi-fi access with membership to President's club and had signed for it. They gladly gave me free wi-fi.

Room Tip: I was on a higher floor and it was very quiet. If I had to stay at this hotel again, I would again...

We were in Dubai for a 5 day trip in November 2012 and we had an experience of our lifetime. The hotel is situated just where it is supposed to be. Shekh Zayed Road!! You have everything just at a minutes away distance. I had a meeting at the World trade centre which was just a 5 min. walk. And yes. The rooms really are well appointed with excellent bath and accessories. We just loved the food. Had a vast variety in breakfast menu. Loved it. Room service was excellent. Staff is very friendly. As I live in Kuwait I will be surely visiting Dubai frequently and Fairmont would be my choice.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor for great views!!
