What a wonderful hotel, second time and if anything it was even better than our first stay even though Celebrations was closed for refurbishment. It was very hot and the hotel wasn't full but it didn't bother us one bit. The staff here all go the extra mile and nothing is too much trouble. We were in a gold club room which was fabulous with a large balcony, it was a shame that it was too hot to sit out but then its to be expected at this time of year.
We had half board this time and Olives just can't be faulted for breakfast or dinner, although we also went to the Beach Steak House (at a supplement) which was excellent.
Pool and beach great, although swimming in the sea here is akin to swimming in soup its that warm!

Room Tip: If can afford it have a gold club room, worth every penny

Having now been to this hotel every year for the last 7 years I can honestly say it consistently is the same excellent standard. This year we were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and we were presented with a lovely bouquet of flowers/chocolates on arrival.

The resort is fabulous, clean and relaxing. A few children around the pool but not many to cause too much noise. The quality of restaurants are fantastic but would highly recommend the Beach Grill and also Nina's

The only small downside (as with any beach resort in Dubai) is the noise of the jet skis just on a Friday afternoon but this is not the fault of the hotel

Would highly recommend to anyone seeking a quality hotel which we feel is great value for money

We had an impeccable stay at the One & Only Royal Mirage The Palace. We departed at Birmingham at 21:15 with Emirates for our night flight to Dubai. The flight was just as you'd expect it-AMAZING. When we landed we were immediately struck by the intense heat, but got into our transfer to the resort. When we arrived, they gave us a complimentary drink. We checked in and were given a room on the East Side on floor 4. Beautifully presented, clean and quiet. Down we went to the pool where we stayed for most of our 8 days in Dubai. On the second we went down to the beach and on the screen, it said it was the hottest day of the year, 46 Celsius. It was an excellent stay and the hotel was amazing, the Jumeriah Beach was the warmest sea I have ever been in.

We stayed for three nights at the Palace with half board. Our room had direct access to the well maintained garden where a beautiful peacock family lived. The gardens are generally full of birds, so watch your food! We got a great flight, hotel & half board deal from Emirates Holidays. One of the restaurants is closed until mid-August.

The good:
Big rooms, well appointed and beautifully decorated. Nice bathrooms.
Lovely gardens, pool area and beach. Iced water gets topped up constantly, beach bar serves healthy, delicious snacks, towels are huge, pool is nice.
Great choice of restaurants. We tried several and the food was great in all of them. Buffets offer a huge choice for every taste. Friendly service.
There are two gyms. The one in the palace is small. It has some good dumbbells, but the machines are mostly cardio. 2 out of 4 weight machines are for chest. Strange choice. The gym in the Residence is a bit bigger and has some super modern machines and a nice dumbbell rack. But overall not that equipped. The Royal Meridien Beach beats it by a mile.
The shishas in the courtyard between Tagine and Olives are delicious. Lovely setting and good service.
It was my fiancee's birthday while we were there. When I went to guest relations, they had already organized a flower display and a cake (a chocolate shoe with macaroons)! All they needed from me was a time of delivery. Didn't charge anything either. Great service and presentation.

The bad:
Room was not ready when we arrived at 3pm. They offered us lunch instead, but we were not hungry.
Not the hotel's fault, but on the weekend there is constant droning of jet-skis from the water. Not just on the beach, but in the pool area too. Really bothered me.
The downside of the complex offering so much is that you may have to walk quite a bit to get to some of the restaurants and facilities. Or wait for a golf cart. Not too bad, but it gets pretty hot.

The ugly:
100 AED for 24h of Wifi on two devices. Really? It's 2013, internet is as ubiquitous as running water and electricity. Don't try and make a profit on it! This is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 points.

We had a great time but I think the hotel maybe becoming a bit complacent. We had no free wifi -Why.We were not welcomed back and even though I had sent an email to request a double bed and a restaurant booking, it was not done. The check in was not informative at all so if you had not stayed before you would struggle.I was very disappointed that a restaurant was closed and we not given any prior notice .We wanted to go to this on our last night so we had to go to the Palm instead which of course cost us more money. The manager in Ninas was very friendly but all the staff were very polite but had no conversation. We loved the setting of the Jetty Bar but agree with another comment that the jet skis and boats at the weekend were extremley loud.
I think I will try another hotel on my next visit.

Room Tip: ask for a room near reception it a long walk if you are past rooms ending with 50

The hotel was fine -- an excessive amount of walking if you're not fit, but no other issues except the wifi. It is really galling at this late date that the high end hotels continue to see fit to charge extra for internet service when all of the low to mid end American hotels have thrown it in for free for the past decade -- but we were traveling on business so the cost isn't even my issue. The real issue is that they charge AND they have a 2 device limit. So, necessarily, there is also some inane software that tries ineptly to regulate whether you have more than 2 devices connected. We wasted 45 minutes on 2 occasions when an error message would pop up saying we were over the device limit when in fact we were not. We literally shut down all of our other devices -- phones, ipad, whatever -- and still got the message, call up the front desk, they transfer us to the support group, the support group eventually sends some reset signal, and all is well for a time. Unbelievably stupid that any hotel should waste its time or its guests time over something they shouldn't be charging or regulating any more than the television set in the room. And a 2 device limit is tight for even one business person these days, but really hard for two people sharing a room. Incredibly greedy but also creating a hardship for the sort of affluent and/or busy people who are the mainstay of a place like this.

We stayed at the hotel last week and it was an experience to remember. It's not a hotel that we picked as the decision of where to sleep was made for us, however it was one of the top hotels we have had the luxury of staying. Overall I would give the hotel five out of five, mainly because it had charm, character and a feel of a boutique hotel. Hard to come by in a city which is 40 years old. On first impressions the entrance was grand, architecturally beautiful. There were four members of staff waiting to assist with luggage and shopping. We were adamant to go to sleep in our room (after an 8 hour night flight). On the way to our room we saw the pool and the sea. The idea went out of the window, the beach and pool were just so inviting. The pool is chilled for maximum comfort. The bar over staffed, there are attendants walking round with water and towels. There are plenty of shaded areas and sunny spots for sun seekers. The wildlife in the gardens was a pleasure to watch. Birds making nests, singing and having a little bath (right outside the reception area)
Our room was 456 the furthest, but walking to it I really did feel like I was walking in a palace corridor. Staff that work there have the coolest outfits, very traditional.
The room was wonderfully decorated, very large and nice focal points. The bed extra comfortable super king. The accessories on the bed tasteful, contemporary with Arabic charm. The bathroom - great size. Toiletries 'Gilchrist and Soams'. One minor point that the water in the shower changes suddenly. A tip start off luke warm. One other point there are jet skis which do make noise and there are more of them at the weekend in the vicinity of the hotel, you can hear this in your room and on the beach.
There is a great security system if a guest leaves the safe open the room is automatically locked, this is reported immediately and the only way to get the room open again is through hotel security.
On the last night there was a great romantic touch at turn down service. Swans (towel) and real rose petals on the bed and on the floor. Again you just felt special every minute. I genuinely believe that every guest is valued and all staff do everything possible to make the stay the best it can be. One last tip - if spas are for you the hotel one is worth a try. It's not that big but it feels exclusive to you. The treatments are worth buying. They use UK toiletries (Espa Body Oils) I was looking forward to some traditional Arabic oils. Well can't have it all. Turn up about 10 minutes early as the staff recommended a steam before the treament if you go.
