This hotel is without doubt one of the best top quality hotels we have ever stayed at. The room was excellent, all the hotel facilities are first class and the staff are in a class of their own.
We would find it hard to find any adverse comments to write about the hotel or the management of this property, anyone who does must have had a very bad experience that would in our opinion be a one off.

Restaurants are all excellent with quality service and food, with a wide variety to suit all tastes, my wife is a coeliac and they catered for her in a truly admirable fashion (they even know what the condition is)!

Pool staff are considerate beyond expectation even though it was Ramadan when we were there and working in the sort of temperatures we had they were never grumpy or lethargic.

Room staff were always available and requests always attended to promptly.
We would not hesitate to say we will return there again, the problem is when, and we both felt we would have liked to stay even longer than the 10 days we booked there, and it is not often that we have both been able to say "I wouldnt mind a few more days here"

All in all a very peaceful location if you like peace and quiete, enjoy your own company and reading lots of books. Do not stay here for boisterous evenings, noisy club life, and cheap alcohol, this is not the resort for you, it is far from that scene.

Room Tip: did not look at the suites but they must be superb as the normal rooms with 36 sq mtr of space are more than adequate.

I appreciate that this isn't the most expensive of the Dubai 5*'s, but it could have been better... When we arrived at 5am, having paid for the previous night to guarantee a room on arrival, we were sat down as what appeared to be a delay tactic before taken to our room, then told that we were lucky as a room was available. No apology when we flagged that we had paid for the room, which was disappointing.

The reception area and lobby are opulent and smart, as you'd expect and the room was nice, very clean and well cleaned during the day. It was a bit of an epic walk to our ground floor room, which was fine, but not ideal (we appeared to be in the furthest away room.) The pool area was generally a bit shabby, past its best really, but the temperature meant we weren't out there too much. Although it might be the hotel for some, the large British contingent felt a bit odd - a bit like being in Spain...

We went to the Spa for treatments (at the Residence and Spa hotel), which was lovely and good value. We had the half board offer and found it really flexible, as we had money towards our meals. The Beach House was good.

We got a good deal, but I think that there are probably better places - on reflection I might have paid more and gone elsewhere if I could see beyond the impressive reviews... It really is hard to use Tripadvisor to find the best place for your money when there's so many hotels on offer.

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights at the end of August and wished we had booked for longer. We booked a Gold Club room and so glad we did. When we arrived we were shown into a lounge off reception to be checked in (no waiting at the desk at this hotel!) when they noted that we had book Gold Club they took us to the special gold club lounge to check us in.
The Gold Club is worth a mention, for a relatively small additional amount your room is an upgrade but the best of it is dedicated breakfast in the gold club lounge, complimentary internet access, complimentary afternoon tea (and what a tea it was!!) and complimentary evening drinks/canapes between 6 - 8 pm. Well worth it considering the cost of drinks in Dubai. The dedicated staff are excellent and many thanks to Nicolas, Raja, Amith and Pebbin who looked after us so well. Furthermore, the Gold Club had it's own entrance so every time we took a taxi they picked us up and dropped us off there saving us the walk from main reception. In fact, the Gold Club reception did everything from booking tables for dinner to arranging a golf buggy to take us to the furthest on site restaurants.
The hotel is low rise and traditionally arabic, very close to most of the places you would want to visit and taxi's are very cheap. It is made up of 3 properties on one site, The Palace, The Residence and The Arabian Court. We ate at the Beach Bar and Grill - excellent steak, the Tagine which was very traditionally morroccan and was my personal favourite and Olives which was OK. At the Arabian court we ate at Ninas (Indian, very good) and Eau Zone also excellent outside dining experience and tried the rooftop bar but it was so hot up there we didn't stay long but it was very atmospheric. As we were on the half board package we also took the hotel boat over to their sister hotel on The Palm and ate at the STAY which was amazing (but very expensive) the hotel gives a credit of 130 dirhams per person to be used in any of their restaurants including the hotel at the Palm. WE also tried the Kazbar nightclub in the hotel, again complimentary access for hotel guests.
We could not fault this hotel, the pool service was first glass, cold water topped up all day long, a nice man coming to clean your sunglasses and fresh fruit cocktail sticks handed out to sunbathers, The pool is large with plenty of cover from palm trees but also plenty for sunworshippers. The rooms are large and roomy with good size balcony, great bathrooms, if fact it was so perfect we are planning to return next year. We spoke to many people and a lot we regulars at this hotel, one lady told my husband they had been there 13 times! I would recommend if you can manage it to book the gold club rooms as the benefits of this are so many. We had one of the best holidays of our lives at this hotel. See you next year. Oh, nearly forgot to mention the beds - SOOOO COMFORTABLE you won't even miss your own bed at home....

Stayed at this hotel from 15th to 30th August and we had a fantastic time. There is almost nothing that I can fault it on.

We upgraded to a Gold Club room, which was very nice. King size bed, huge TV, dvd player, bathroom with double sink, bath and separate shower. Small balcony with two chairs. We travelled with our 5 year old son and so there was also a 'put me up' bed for him too. As we upgraded we had use of the Gold Club lounge and this was fantastic. Krishna, Pebbin and Raja were amazing and could not do enough for us and they spent lots of time with our son. Amazing service - nothing is too much trouble. The Club lounge has afternoon tea from 3 - 6pm and happy hour between 6 - 8pm. However, as we went in Ramadan, the hotel did not serve alcohol before 8pm, so happy hour was between 8 - 10.30pm.

The pool is fantastic. It is so big that it never feels crowded. It is also cooled which is so lovely when you have been sitting in 41 degree heat! All the sun loungers have umbrellas so there is always shade if you want it. As said in previous reviews, the pool guys come round all the time with iced water plus there are lots of water coolers so you can help yourself if you want more. There is also aqua aerobics some mornings and then water volleyball every day if you want to get involved. The pool is so large that this does not interfere with your enjoyment of the water if you do not want to be involved.

The restaurants are very nice and, all but the Tagine, have good childrens menus. All restaurants are very attentive to children and get their meals out very quickly. There is even chips and tomato ketchup!! Water in the restaurants is not free. Food is good quality and very good portion sizes. In Ramadan, the Tagine and the Rottisserie (at the Arabian Court) have Iftar until 9pm, so dining there is a bit later. You are welcome to go there for this too. You need to book for your eveining meal but quite often we didn't book until late afternoon the same day and always got a table. If you want to go to one of the restaurants at the Arabian Court, there is a free shuttle that runs every 15 mins, however, we never waited more than 3 or 4 mins. You can also go to the other One and Only hotel on Palm Island for dinner. This needs a reservation and you still get your 150 dirham allowance. There is a free boat that takes you over there and brings you back. We did not try this though as one restaurant was shut, one does not take children under 12 and the other restaurant was serving Iftar all night and we weren't sure if our little boy would like this.

We stayed half board which was well worth the money. Three of the restaurants have half board menus (these are not offered so make sure you ask). However, if you don't want the half board menu or you are in one of the other restaurants, you get 150 dirhams each and 75 for children, towards your food bill. You cannot use it towards any drinks. You also get the allowance if you use room service. We did use this a couple of times and the menu had a great choice and very good for children too. The attention to detail in the room service meal is the same as going to one of the restaurants, we were very impressed.

We went in Ramadan and I would not let this put you off at all - unless you want alcohol available 24hrs a day. Food is available throughout the day. The Esplanade Cafe is by the pool and serves food and non alcoholic drinks throughout the day.

The half board deal worked very well for us. We would have a big buffet breakfast and then go for afternoon tea at 4pm. This meant we had no additional expenditure for lunch. It was not a problem for our little boy either.

Although the temperature was generally between 41 and 45 degrees it was not unbearable as the pool was so lovely. There is also a lovely stretch of beach but the sea is much too warm to swim in. I would not let the temperature put you off going - however, if you wanted to do lots of trips out of the air conditioning and away from the pool, that would be a different matter!!

Fantastic hotel and we want to go straight back - cannot wait to go again next year. The grounds are beautiful. Inside the hotel it is spotless and there are flowers everywhere, on almost every table, in all the toilets, rose petals on the floor in some places - just beautiful.

All staff are extremely friendly, service is excellent, food is great, hotel beautiful, best and biggest pool ever. You should definitely try it!!!

This hotel provides amazing Butler Services... Especially butler services what we received from Mr. Ankush (from India) was amazing. This handsome guy carries smiles on his face at everytime of the day that we were at the hotel. He ensures that all the requests for us were taken care at all times. Kudos to the One & Only resort to have a Butler like him. He is a true asset to the company.... You are a true hospitality SUPERSTAR.
