“Our 2nd stay!”

We stayed in this hotel in 2007 and were happy enough again on our return. We were in a garden room both times. Although possibly a little worn, the room was spacious with a seating area, good bathroom and lots of little extras; ample toiletries, slippers, bathrobes, safe, complimentary bottled water and tea and coffee making facilities. Sun beds by the pool and beach are very comfortable. This hotel is right on the end of the bay with a vast beach. We ate in The Grill Room on our previous visit and enjoyed it so much we tried it again with our friends,..Superb! We all had steak cooked differently and all were cooked to perfection. Drinks are quite expensive but they are in most places in Dubai however the Polo Bar had a happy two hours 6-8pm. We were leaving 5am so we had room service breakfast at no extra cost, cases collected efficiently, checkout efficient and taxis available 24 hours to the airport, 20-30 mins transfer costing around £20. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The tower rooms are new with good views but will cost more.

This may once have been a 5*, but back when Pontious was a pilot. General impression is of a culture of exploiting every opportunity rather providing good service.
We staed for 2 nights, booked at a discount rate through Agodo. First question upon arrival, which set the tone was "would we like to pay for an update because the room we booked had no view". Well, it did have a view, 2 x JCBs and 20 labourers working only 5m from the patio. I think complaining led to special treatment; a room that smelt like it had not been opened for several weeks that faced the base of the tower block a few yards away and next to what I think must have been the main power source exhaust vent. Overall impression ( not known fact) is off short selling sub-standard rooms with an expectation of 'forcing' a paid upgrade.
The block these rooms were in was part of the resort grounds and is frankly an eye-sore. Third attempt did result in a nice room in the main hotel but only after paying for an upgrade. All ok apart from a broken kettle and the nice surprise of paying 100 AED a night for wi-fi.
Food in the Grand Grill was very good - an excellent steak and good service. It transpires this is a franchise within the hotel, not managed by the hotel. By contrast, the Russian themed buffet on our second night was appalling. Although the salad bar was quite good the hot servery was terrible. We ate relatively early but everything was dried up under the lights and the chef was busy berating all his staff. Almost inedible. The sweets were mediocre at best, with the fruit apparently prepared by a 5 year old trainee wood cutter; don't ask about the pastry, my jaw still aches. The numerous staff competed to annoy the handful of customers. Being asked the same question 3 times in as many minutes gets a little tiresome.
Biggest moan was the applicants on, or not, of a corporate discount scheme. We specifically checked on arrival which restaurants were included and were told very specifically which were included, at what discount rate and that presenting the card on check-out was ok. On check-out this was not honoured. Giving the hotel the benefit of the doubt and assuming the employee was mistaken with his brief, then staff should know this detail. At the end of a bad experience it felt like rubbing salt into an open wound, especially as it took 45 minutes to check-out.
Summary. Everything has something wrong with it and it is a long way from competing with peer hotels in Dubai. Dated in decor and service levels. Somewhere to send the mother-in-law. No surprise it has so many poor reviews. Note to self, read reviews before making late notice bookings!

Room Tip: Go the Premier Inn for better in all respects

My experience of this hotel has been truly great. I found the staff friendly and helpful. Whether you go to the restaurants or the business center, (Good work Yogz. Helping me through my I T frustrations!) to the people who are not seen, room service, gym trainers etc. Made me feel so at home. The food is great. Loved those big breakfasts and the Underground meals. A charming hotel with so much to do and so many ways to relax!! Treat yourself!!

we stayed 3 nights at hotel, nice hotel with the great amenities. I tried many 4 and 5 stars in Dubai, maybe you find that some services are less than others but bases on money value, nice beach and resort, It's worth to try. we enjoyed staying and I recommend it.

I'm a resident of the UAE and have stayed in quite a few different 5 star hotels in Dubai and it is a long time since I have been so so disappointed. Based on all the different restaurants, bars, pool, beach etc, you would expect a very good resort - but it is terribly let down by the service and some of the poolside rooms. For instance, there is "free Wifi" but the reception would only give one pass code and wanted to charge 100AED for any additional devices (a bit strange for a room booked for 2 people). Avoid room 143 - it's a room "near" to the pool but faces to the main transformer house and in between there is a causeway that the hotel service buggies use. To make matters worse, there is a utility cover outside the window which makes a loud clang everytime a buggy goes over it - so I didn't exactly get a peaceful night sleep. The room AC control is ancient and only has "off" and "auto" so you can't control the fan speed. My wife and I thought we must have been invisible - most of the staff ignored us (hardly any of them said "good afternoon"). We were so disappointed we ended up having coffee and evening meal in the nearby hotels. For a similar price and location, you are better choosing the Grosvenor House Hotel or Le Royal Merdien.

Room Tip: Avoid "resort rooms". Tower rooms are probably better.

Regarding the WIFI charges , please be informed that many hotels in Dubai do charge for similar packages , we also have other packages that include internet such as club rooms , we leave the choice to our guests.

Also we like to highlight that we have many room categories starting with our very popular entry level of "resort rooms" -similar to the one you booked- , and ending with our luxurious suites overlooking the magnificent views of the sea and the Palm Island.
Many of our guests enjoy different categories and locations in our widely spread resort grounds.

Myself, wife and two boys stayed at The Habtoor from 18th Dec for 10 days. We've stayed in the Atlantis, Mina a Salem, Grosvenor House and quite a few more of the past few years. Our first impression was....hmmm not a great reception area. Anyway our family room in The Tower (left) was OK but not great. This hotel needs a facelift.

The staff were VERY good all over the hotel.

We purchased half board before we arrived and we wished that we hadnt as the only qualifying restuarant was the big 'Breakfast Hall' by reception. It was OK but poorly lit and the food a little unimaginative. The other restuarants in the hotel were in my eyes, pedestrian. We ate out most nights.

The pool area was good and the slides kept the boys happy. The music when on by the pools was great, but for some reason was intermittant.

The beach area was again OK but not a patch on the hotel next door The Royal Meridien. On paper the Habtoor is probably 20% less to book than The Royal Meridien, Grosvenor House etc, BUT the food/drinks/services are the same if not more than those.

The gym was excellent.

WIFI cost £20 per day.

The location is first class and grabbing a taxi is no problems.

We had a super time in Dubai, BUT I wont be re-booking The Habtoor, purely because there are so many other newer smarter hotels in the immediate area.

Room Tip: The Tower rooms are great.

We are residents of the UAE- after visiting many restaurants and frequenting the beach - and being impressed we thought of booking our stay here to celebrate our wedding. I am so disappointed - the check- in process took a ridiculously long time ( ours about 20 mins and a friend's took 90 mins!!) no apology. Our room faces a construction site on the hotel - with workers yelling at 6am - very romantic!!!! The rooms are so run down and dated. Our curtains don't close properly - only one side works. The water in the bathroom stops intermittently and goes cold.
Stay anywhere else!!!!
