“location not great but business centre is”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

one night stopover. location not great and hotel a little tired. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had booked with access to business centre as we were early arrivals. They found us a room immediately. Room a little small and light from bathroom shows through into bedroom if you turn the light on at night. A little removed from anything other than souks which were not as nice as we had imagined. Felt a bit like two dollar shops all jammed together with the ability to haggle and "be haggled". Views from windows pretty dreary.
Breakfast and meals at business centre were fabulous - really fresh and nice variety. No kitchen up there so eggs brought up from kitchen elsewhere. Staff helped find restaurants to explore and gave advice on where to go.

Our first impression wasn't great as we were told we had a twin room instead of the king room we'd booked. However the girl on the desk said she'd try for a king for the 2nd night. We decided not to bother moving as the room was very comfortable and well equipped. When we were asked by a senior staff member how we were enjoying our stay, we told him all was good after the initial muck up. He was genuinely concerned that there had been a mistake made and immediately gave us access to the executive suite on the 18th floor. (Free happy hour, office facilities, free wifi in room etc) We were very impressed, especially with the wifi!
Throughout our stay (3 nights) we felt the staff couldn't do enough for us. They all seemed genuinely concerned that we were happy and comfortable.
The room was great and the buffet breakfast included in our booking was plentiful, varied and fresh.
We were very happy with our stay. The only downside would be that normally wifi in the room costs extra.
The location is walking distance to the Gold Souk and may be a bit away from the centre of town for some but we had no problem, taxis are cheap and easy to find. And it wasn't too noisy.

Dear Rosie6611,

Thank you for you review, and please accept our apologies that we did not have the king room available on arrival, I am pleased that the Regency Club lounge access made up for this in some way.

I hope we have an opportunity to welcome you back to Hyatt Regency Dubai next time you are passing through this part of the world.

best regards and happy travels.

Recently stayed at this hotel for three nights, first time in Dubai. Cannot speak highly enough about this hotel.

From the moment of check in to check out the staff are probably the best we have encountered. Check in staff could not do enough for us, booked us into revolving restaurant that night and arranged wake up call and continental breakfast in our room for early flight in three days time. We were then introduced to another staff member who took us to our room.

Room was lovely, sea view room overlooking pool. Very comfortable and the bed was delightful after such a long flight.

We ate at the revolving restaurant, first night and it was really superb. Food was of a high quality, plentiful and huge variety. While a little on the expensive side, this was compensated for by the views and the food quality.

Breakfast was one of the highlights. Again staff were very attentive while not being pushy. Food was exceptionally nutrious and with plenty of variety.

The hotel is situated in the old part of Dubai, however, metro is close by and taxis are available and relatively cheap. The hotel offers transport to local shopping malls at various times during the day. Hop on Hop off bus picks up from the door.

Overall this was a great experience and we would definately stay here again when in Dubai.

Room Tip: Get a sea view room, 15th floor or higher

overnight in dubai on way to europe from australia. room smallish and basic but comfortable. window in bathroom into bedroom so if go to bathroom at night and put on light wake partner. bought deal with access to business/corporate centre - great value - access to printer and internet, fresh healthy food options all day and fabulous drinks - eg carrot juice, fresh orange. Alcohol at various times of day to if you wish. lovely breakfast range although limited re eggs etc because no kitchen there. Charming staff who went out of way to help us. Given room straight away although check in was later than when we arrived; arranged breakfast in room because leaving early, very helpful.
Hotel a bit out of the way but quiet and close to airport.

Dear happycamper819,

Thank you for your review.

We have a great mix of business travelers and holiday makers. The Regency Club facility really does elevate a stay at the hotel to the next level. Simply having a lounge to come back to relax in, after a hard days shopping, working or touring, makes a huge difference! The stunning views from the 18th floor are a great way to watch the sun slip into the Arabian gulf at the end of the day, or should I say, start of the evening!

We look forward to welcoming you back next time you pass through Dubai, and hope to tempt you into exploring some of the amazing cultural and heritage sites around the hotel.

Best regards

Stayed towards the end of April and had a great time in this hotel. Our room had amazing view of city and the creek. The bed was kingsize and extremely comfortable. All staff were very helpful and professional. Enjoyed the pool area which got the sun until mid afternoon. The revolving restaurant looked amazing. Breakfast was varied and relaxed. Really enjoyed the golf in the small but beautiful golf course. The adjacent mall has a great ice rink, shops, bank, supermarket, food outlet and bar. The hotel is close to the gold souk and not too far from the other souks. The hotel were able to arrange a roll a way bed in our room for our daughter who came to stay for 1 night

Room Tip: Ask for room on high floor with view of city and creek

Great hotel we enjoyed every minute in Dubai and the hotel is in a great location for what we wanted. It is located in the old part of Dubai but it is in easy reach of the city by metro or taxi. The room was big and great views of the city. Only fault I would say that the planes do fly over the hotel so could annoy some people that was trying to get some piece around the pool.

This was the first 5 star hotel in Dubai, the second one was the Sheraton at the Creek. The Hyatt opened in 1980 and has remarkably retained staff from the beginning. Must be good management and you can really feel it throughout the property. People want to make you stay memorable

Location not really in the center anymore, but still doable and they have usually good competitive rates. The hotel is 33 years old and unfortunately you can see it here and there. Rooms are small but functional. Gym has a good size, the pool is a bit of a joke.

One last thing, in a strange Hyatt tradition (same as Singapore and Bangkok) they have a "interesting" bar/club that caters to single male business travelers.

Dear Fernlicht,

Thank you for sharing your views with fellow trip advisers.

We are very proud of the team that we have here at the hotel and never take for granted the significant positive impact that having a core of staff that have grown up with the hotel has on the guest experience.

The location of a hotel is an important consideration for travelers and Dubai is no exception in this regard. The location of Hyatt Regency Dubai is ideally suited for short visits, as the hotel is situated quite close to the airport, we are also ideally located for guests wishing to explore some of the cultural and heritage aspects of our city, and is within walking distance of the gold, spice and fabric souks. Personally I love to stroll around the souk’s, catch an abra across the creek and the museum provides an excellent journey through Dubai's fascinating history.

Thanks again for the review and we look forward to welcoming you back.
