Jood Palace Hotel Dubai
Ranked #246 of 554 Hotels in Dubai
Reviewed October 4, 2012

I stayed here in March 2011. It was my first hotel stay in Dubai. Since then I have tried many different hotels in Dubai. None of the other hotels matched my first impression of the Taj Palace. So in September I booked a room on the club floor. I was so disappointed. The hotel is in need of renovation. The wallpaper is peeling, the furniture looks old, and the room does not have a DVD player. In addition, the food served on the club food has gone down in quality. I was the first person there for high tea. The food was already cold and soggy. Same next day. The food in the restaurant for breakfast was not much better. The location of the TAJ is good. It is about 15 minutes from the airport. You can walk to several local restaurants in the area. It is also located near City Center mall for us common people. The mall is a short taxi ride. On the second floor is a nice supermarket. It is like a Super Wal-Mart a very well-stocked grocery store and department store. The mall has a nice mixture of stores.
On a positive note for the Taj, the staff is still very friendly and accommodating. Out of all of the hotels I have booked in Dubai, this staff rates the top.

Room Tip: Choose the club floor. Try to get a room over looking the city and not the next door appartments.

Though i stayed here sometime back forgot to write a review.
Excellent property with big rooms and big beds ,bigger families can take apartments which have a dining room and washing machine etc along with microwave.
Rooms have huge toilets with separate cubicles so no issues for family stay unike the hotels of hongkong and bangkok which have glass windows.
The restaurant serves the best Indian food around,my parents who have stayed here before were addicted to the food as were my kids.
breakfast spread is little disappointing as it looks like more of a business hotel spread rather than a luxury hotels.
During tourist season the staff is overworked and less also so the rooms cleaning on time may be an issue.
MTR is close by so no problem in that.

Location of this hotel is very good on the al rigga road. Meter taxi is also avilable on the street in front of the hotel. Metro train station is very close only walking distance. Break fast is very good, since I am indian I enjoyed the indian food. Rooms are very big neat and clean. Bath room is very clean and big. staff is excellent, they give me good attention. Pool is very very good. A big hall is there for business meeting. Few malls are close by. I think the room rate is little high. There is no bar in the hotel. The mini bar did not have even beer. You have to purchase beer or alcohol from the air port duty free on the arrival before going to the hotel. KFC, McDonald and local restaurants are very near the hotel. Overall it is good hotel. I like it. Room on the front side is very good.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floors in the front side is very good.

We needed a hotel in Dubai that was not crazy expensive...this one wasn't yet claimed to be an excellent hotel--not up to the caliber of the Taj Hotels I've stayed in before. The room was run down, light was broken upon arrival and a quite dismal view out the window. Big terrace but you can't go out on it as the heat is stifling-not the fault of the hotel...we were creeped out when housekeeping kept coming in while we were sleeping--that was not a good experience. They should have a better system. The hotel's location is in the Riga section of Dubai, not ideal but you can use the metro that is near the hotel--that was a plus. The man at the desk was fantastic and helpful but we just probably will not stay here again--we had to catch a plane and it took forever to check out when we had asked to check out the night before they told us to wait until the next day--and the very reason we did not want to do that was what held us up. Anyway, mediocre at best--but if you want an average stay, go for it.

Room Tip: Rooms are big but not at all considered a "luxury".

A four night stay at Taj with family. Revisited after 12 months, and a pleasant check in from Romina, who recognised us/my daughter from prior visits. Allocated a room on 5th floor as other higher floors were taken. View was of the rear of the hotel, which isnt the most pleasant. Comfy beds. Twin room, clean and tidy as expected. Rooms are very large, washroon, has separate WC and shower, with the bath separate again. It is Ramadan presently. Hotel breakfast was curtained off for these reasons. Breakfast more than adequate for us, with all that could be wanted, including live egg station, pancakes, waffles, fruit. cooked indian, salads, cold meat cuts, etc. Juices, iced tea, pastries, yoghurts etc. Taxis never an issue. Staff always attentive and friendly. Minutes walk away from 24 hour supermarket and Al Rigga road, with Burger King, Popeyes, Haagen Daz, Pizza Hut. Al Ghurair Mall about 10mins walk away, Nandos on the corner too! Never had any issues, good rate, would like to see more TV channels however. Pool is also fine, the gym is being renovated and the makeshift room, has dumbells, rowing machine, bike, ab machine, bench, treadmills. Hopefully the new gym will see newer equipment installed. All in all, another pleasant stay.

Room Tip: High fllor, and not at the back, in the city so not really the best views from anywhere.

It was a lovely experience to stay at an India Hotel away from Home. Centrally located rooms. Excellent staff. Good experience of staying. The stay was very comfortable. We can enjoy the Indian food and also the local stuff. Buffet was good. Rooms were very neat and clean. All for a reasonable rate.
