“On the Whole Excellent”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Had a brilliant stay overall and the staff were excellent,, ever helpful
Location is great for the city and getting to airport and beach.
Nice touch was a free shuttle to and from 2 beaches.
The hotel is on the flight path of the airport but to be fair noise was minimal in rooms due to double glazing and whilst sun bathing at the top of the hotel by the pool watching the planes take off and land wasnt that bad even though I am not a plane spotter.
Hotel very clean and comfortable.
The pool terrace and bar is lovelly and the loungers/seating is excellent.
Down side of the stay :
Bar prices , beer £8 per pint though I think its steep all over Dubai.
The hotel taxi is more than double the price of the state taxis, the staff mentioned it would be a few Dh more but more than double is too much.
we paid 25 Dh from airport to hotel in city taxi and 50 Dh to the airport using hotel taxi.
Also the hotel recommended a Desert Safari which charged 250Dh only to find out that other companies charge 125 Dh to 130 Dh for exactly the same service. All the companies met at the same place and did the same drive over the dunes, and ended up at the same entertainment village with camel ride. When I asked about the price difference we were told the insurance was better and the vehicle used was better both rubbish.
The final niggle was that the hotel was decorating all the corridors during our stay.
We were only staying for 6 nights for a holiday.
On the first morning after arriving at midnight the decorators started outside our room on the second floor at 8 am shouting to each other then scraping the old wall paper off.
I complained to the desk staff requesting another room only to be told they would be finished by the following day. No surprise they started again the next morning, there was far too much work to finish in one day .
Disappointed by the hotel attitude I understand work needs to done to up date premises and I commend this but some consideration to guests by moving them whilst their corridor was being worked on should have been considered.
But still recommend staying at this hotel.
ps fantastic Indian restaurant " The Note Book " approx 200 yards from hotel, turn left from hotel , walk to the end of road, cross over road then turn right. Restaurant 100 yds on left

Dear Polskared,

Thank you for choosing to stay with Sheraton Deira Hotel and taking the time to share your experience and view points on the positive and negative aspects of the hotel.

I do empathize on your situation regarding the corridor decorating situation. As you say correctly upkeeping of the premises is a necessary evil as we need to do so whilst continuing to service our customers. In your case I agree with you that we could have handled it better. and please accept my apologies for the inconvenience it caused you and your holiday.

We are thankful that despite some shortfalls in your stay at Sheraton Deira Hotel you do still recommend our hotel.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future soon.

With warm regards,

FW, General Manager

We stayed at this hotel this week and to be truthful we were disappointed. We booked this hotel on the reputation of the Sheraton brand, as we are Starwood card holders and usually get slight benefits of SPG membership and usually know what to expect. It has good access to the airport as only a short taxi ride away, the greeting on arrival was what you expect from Sheraton smart efficient and welcoming, especially considering it was about 2 A.M. On arrival we gave our SPG membership number and were soon booked in as requested to a double bedded room.

We were given a room on the first floor which was meant to be non smoking but there was a distinct smell of tobacco having been smoked in the corridor which seems to permeate into the room. The room especially for this hotel chain was compact, with a king size bed which left little room for the other furniture of two armchairs on which was worn 'bobbled' on the arm. The bathroom was compact too. Yesterday it had a large bath with an overhead shower toilet bidet and sink area. Having stayed in the Sheraton in Kuala Lumpur a couple of weeks ago and impressed with the space and decor of the hotel, we were completely under whelmed. Owing to the our, being very late and just left a 7hour flight and only staying two days we decided sleep was our main priority.

We arose reasonable early the next day and realised at that point that the SPG members floors were situated on floor 4 and 5, I guess that these did not have double beds as the rest of our friends who booked in with us were on this floor and only had twin bedded rooms.

The food in the hotel was good, and recommend the evening meal deals which include drinks with your food, making them excellent value. The pool is on the roof, and again not up to what we have become accustomed to from this chain, but the beds were comfortable enough, there is a small pool adequate for a quick dip with a poll bar, also a whirl pool bath. Shaded areas as well a sun deck around the pool. The hotel is right on the flight bath about 1/2 mile from the threshold giving excellent views of the runways and all the traffic so aircraft noise is an issue on the roof, but never heard a thing once within the hotel. Also on the 5th floor there is a bar, but we were put off using it as it was very smokey, however the cafe area next to the Internet hub, which is free to use and excellent, was able to serve us alcohol, although the prices are a little steep, but I suppose to be expected in Dubai.

Dear mikeyk64,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on your recent stay experience as a guest at the Sheraton Deira Hotel.

We welcome your constructive feedback being both positive and negatives regarding your experiences on our product & services. I was sorry to read that compared to our sister property in KL your stay was dissapointing. I understand yiur feeling but one should keep in mind that they are part of the Starwood Luxury Collection and that our hotel is advertised and classified as a 4star hotel. I very much appreciate your feedback and hope that you will give us an opportunity to show you our strengths in areas were we fell short.

Yours sincerely,

Very helpful staff all the way. The hotel is not quite up to date but if you are ok with that and the fact that you sometimes must listen to the ballroom dancing until 2 o clock in the night, then you are all set for this hotel. Look for good deals in the internet :-) Breakfast is fine, the omelets are very very good here :-) Near to the airport...

On the way back to Europe, we stayed at this hotel as a family. The hotel was in a very good location; it was centrally located and you could access the city very quickly. Parking was not a problem since the concierge service helped you park. Receptionists were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Junior suite. This was very comfortable and spacious. Additional mattresses accommodated were made for the children. Bathroom was enormous and luxuriant with a bathtub and shower facility. Le cafe was just across from our room and there were light snacks, tea coffee, and wii-fii. We also had lovely breakfasts here. The children loved this. Finally the pool was on the terrace. Be mindful that this is not child friendly and you need to supervise them at all times. Further more there was a bar adjoined to the pool. This was a problem since it did allow excess drinking and it was not the suitable place for young children. Overall we would recommend this hotel for young families (facilities and staff make it great).

Room Tip: Book well in advance and you could end with extremely good deals

I am a booking keeping in mind the Sheraton Creck Hotel Dubai. But my travel agent made it at Sheraton Dera. Its in the heart of city. You can go to Citi Centre by walk. Old city and Bar Dubai is also near.

Rooms are small, service and food is good. Enjoy pool at top roof. You can have a panoramic view from the roof top. Staff is to friendly always ready to help you. The cafe near to GYM is should be visited.

Room Tip: If you are SPG member get a room at SPG floor.

I could even give 4 stars to this hotel. The reception was warm and check-in done very soon. The hotel itself was a little old and needs refurbishment specially in the bathroom section in the room. The hotel doors need to be changed to soundproof ones since the corridor noise coming to the room. The room was large and the internet quality was OK. The location is a little far from the nearest Metro station and in the rush time finding a taxi is a little difficult. To summarize it, hotel needs slight refurbishment then it can be change to a five star hotel.
