My recent stay in Dubai was a combined business/pleasure. The hotel staff will bend over backwards here to make you happy. You are greeted with a fresh towel and juice when you arrive, waited on like royalty through your stay. I did stay in one of the "construction" zone rooms, and honestly people- NOT BAD. If you want to stay in an amazing place, how often are you really in the room from 9-5 on vacation anyhow? Our room had view of the Burj al Arab and was fabulous. The resort is HUGE, walking distance (or they will cart you in a buggy or boat ride so you don't have to walk) to many restaurants, bars, the souk (shopping). Room amenities are standard, but noticeably convenient is the wall which will accept plugs from UK/USA, etc without converters, plus a USB port for charging. Bathroom has standard amenities, including robes/towels, you get fresh fruit to your room, a turn-down service, and beach bag for use. I did use the gym here and it was amazing. A top notch health club complete with indoor lap swimming pool. Pool area is lovely as is beach, all have service buttons on your umbrella. Beach is very clean, water good for swimming, complete paradise. Hotel has free shuttle to Emirates mall daily. Downtown is quite far depending on where you are going, generally a cab ride is 40-60AED, equiv. of $10-20 so quite cheap! Friday brunch is a BIG to-do here, make your reservations early!! It is also quite costly, both for brunch and any food/drinks in general. Drinks on beach bar generally 65-80 AED PER DRINK, so watch your tab. Overall, amazing resort, service is amazing, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Worthy every penny!
