Well. Where to start?
Arrived 9:30 am. Reception had our booking Were given a lovely cool drink with mint and dates
Arranged our room ,sea view which we had booked ,at 10 am. Brilliant. No waiting until 2 pm
We chilled until later in the afternoon at the pool. Checking the hotel out
We enjoyed our first meal at the brasserie. We booked half board, good move as it was 45 deg and during Ramadan ( restaurants outside of the hotel not open unti 8 pm )
The brasserie has a theme night every night for food choice eg. Brit night. Asian night. Indian night ( fab) Go for half board. We booked through virgin holidays got half board for an extra £320. It would have cost £700. Or even more outside. Restaurants near or on the walk v expensive (£100 plus for two)
Great grounds Super pools. The beach is at the end of the pool area. Perfect
The rooms are perfect. The staff are wonderful and just can't do enough for you
It was quite quiet when we were there probably due to the heat an possibly during Ramadan
We used taxis because it was too hot to walk too far ( we knew that it would be hot )
The spa and gym were great too. Just what to expect at a five star resort
As I've said we booked during Ramadan. Was not a real problem for non Muslim s. just the fact that the restaurants don't open until after 8 pm
The gold souk was superb too. ( we visited four years ago and went then ). Good prices if you are able to haggle Which I can and is great Go to Tejori. They'll look after you

All in all a brilliant holiday. Dubai is not cheap.take lots of cash or cards Much more expensive than four years ago
Visit the Burj Khalifa. Fabulous

Next time Mexico I think

From the minute you step out of your taxi you're treated like a king and queen. An absolutely stunning hotel with everything you could ever need. When checking in we were presented with a cold cloth that had a delightful scent and a glass of fresh lemonade. We were shown to our room and told how to work everything including the free wifi as in hotel is so big there's two different wifi spots, one for the hotel and one for the pool area. Every member of staff in the hotel has a smile for you and will fall over themselves to help you, know matter what it is you want. I was truly humbled by every member of staff we had the pleasure of meeting and makes you realise just what good customer service is all about. We were in a deluxe room (standard) and it was huge. Every day complimentary bottles of water were topped up, fruit and chocolates left in the evening during the turn down service. There's no such thing as re-using the towels either, if they're hanging up to dry to be reused and your room is serviced the towels will be replaced with fresh ones. At first I thought the hotel was a bit out of the way but taxis are very cheap and there's also a metro that stos at Dubai Marina (near the hotel) right past the Al Karama market, it stops at the Dubai Mall, the Mall of the Emirates, Burj Kalifa amongst other places. The metro also goes to the souks, you have to change from the red line to the green line, google Dubai Metro to get a route map and a list of all the stops. A day pass is 16 dirhams and can be used as many times a day as you like - great value. There's no eating or drinking allowed on the metro so it's spotless and the stations themselves are amazing. They're easily recognisable. The hotel is right beside 'The Walk', if you head out of the hotel and turn right you're right at it. It's a walkway of different shops, coffee places and restaurants. The Dubai Marina is also very nice and is close to the hotel. Spinney's supermarket is there if you don't want to pay hotel prices for juice and room nibbles. The Marina has a great ambience at night with lots of nice places to eat. We walked back from the Marina one day and came across a litle supermarket called FMart which is in the second street that runs parallel to the hotel, much closer to the hotel than Spinney's. There's a busy road to cross so be very careful. FMart and The Walk was about the only places we walked to. I would recommend that you get a taxi wherever you are going, no matter how close. The hotel and the Mall of the Emirates run a shuttle bus services backwards and forwards to the mall. You'll be given a timetable when you arrive at the hotel. If you're getting a taxi from the airport the standing charge before you even go anywhere is 25 dirhams, we were around 95 dirhams from the airport to the hotel, but only around 70 dirhams from the hotel to the airport as the standing charge is only 3 dirhams from the hotel or anywhere else that's not the airport. The journey from the airport takes around 30 mins depending on traffic. We did our airport journeys at around 11pm both times. The grounds of this hotel are immense with three terrific pools, a private area of the beach and grass areas with no shortage of sun loungers. Not the plastic loungers I'm used to - each of these loungers come with a mattress and the pool towels are good quality towels that cover the entire sun lounger. You'll get sunbed cards when you arrive that you'll swap for towels at the pool. The pool attendants are round every hour, first it's a cool water spray, then it's cold cloths and then it's a slush type drink. I recommend you ask for an ice bucket from the pool bar (no charge) and put some of the hotel water in for a cool poolside refreshment, it's also a good place for your sun lotion and give some cool relieve when reapplying. We went during Ramadan and got caught out a couple of times when we were pretty thirsty at the mall and all resturants did not serve food or drinks until sun down which was around 7pm. We'll be better prepared next time and won't leave the hotel until later. The brasserie in the hotel is open during Ramadan but we struggled to find any other restaurant outside of the hotel that was open. I was a bit worried about what to wear when outside of the pool area and in malls. The hotel asks that you dress conservatively when walking from the pool through the hotel so that just means cover up your top half if you're a guy and cover up your bikini if you're a gal. The malls also ask you to dress conservatively, so no bare shoulders or very short shorts. There were plenty of bare legs and bare shoulders in the malls. If I'm visiting another country, especially during their Holy month then I'm happy to abide by their wishes. A light scarf wrapped around your shoulders is all that's required or a light cardigan. The malls are very well air conditioned anyway so you're likely to need something to keep the cool air off you. We booked afternoon tea at the Burj Kalifa, you need to book in advance and at 290 dirhams per person it's well worth it for the view and the selection of bite sized delights. As it was Ramadan when we visited the afternoon tea wasn't served until later so our view was a night time, would liked to have seen this view during the day too. No visit to Dubai is complete without experiencing the Al Karama shopping centre and the Souks. I've never seen so many shops selling fake watches, handbags, puses and sunglasses. All of the shop keepers are outside their shops, each one of them trying their best to entice you into their shop. The 'Green Eye' shop in Al Karama gets a good name for top notch 'genuine fake' goods. The gold souk is exactly the same, shop keepers touting for business and if they're inside their shop and you stop to look in the window they're out like a shot. This badgering by the shopkeepers put me off, had they just left us alone and let us look around their shop then I'm sure we would have hung around and haggled for some goodies. 10 out of 10 for effort though guys. Although I felt quite overwhelmed by the Al Karama experience at no point did I feel unsafe, in fact, the amount of men who walk around with their wallets hanging out their back pockets was a sign that petty crime isn't common here. I'd still be very careful with your possessions - you just never know! All in all a 'WOW!' holiday, the best part of it being the top notch service from the best hotel I've ever stayed in. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Dubai. It has the sun during the day for a chilled out, relaxing day by the pool or beach and the city night life to keep you occupied in the evening. Keep up the first class service. Every single member of staff is a credit to this amazing hotel, Le Royal Meridien should be very, very proud of their staff. Hope to be back soon.

Stayed at the Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort recently with wife and 2 girls staying in a triple room (King + Single beds).

We were given a larger room/suite in the main hotel building which we appreciated greatly and the facilities were exactly what we were expecting for a quality hotel resort. Three great pools, numerous bars/food places inside the hotel and on the grounds, beautiful gardens and numerous kid activities (mini golf, playground, table tennis, etc). Everything was clean and efficient. Despite the 50 degrees Celsius weather and it being Ramadan when we visited, we had our best resort experience.

The hotel staff were fantastic, especially the guys working at the pools and the concierge team. It seemed like that they could second guess all of our needs and were able to assist us in every instance without any fuss. It is clear that there is effective management/leadership in place amongst these teams and that their training is effective. Well done.

I would be looking to come back to Dubai solely because of this hotel resort as it is a great place to have a couple of days as a stop over where you can truly relax and enjoy the weather.

Room Tip: City view rooms in the main building are slightly larger than sea room views.

We stayed in the Le Royal Meriden on the way back from Mauritus for 3 nights. After having such a lazy time in the indian ocean it was great to be in the city again. The hotel is perfectly positioned and getting around by taxi is very cheap and easy. The food is great, good quality and very very tasty (especially breakfast).

We arrived at the hotel early after travelling over night (around 6am) we was shown to our room immediatley (even though check in was not until 2pm). We got a upgrade as we were honeymooners and we were given a damp cloth and juice on arrival while we was checking in.

The rooms are very nicely decked out, with lovely comfy beds and large soft pillows. Cleaned every day and fresh bottled water is put in the room.

The pool area is really nice with lovely comfy sun beds that are close to the pool (you will burn your feet if you have to walk too far!) While you are there they give you ice buckets, spritzer sprays with cold water and ice cold cloths which is a fantastic little touch.

A little tip would be go the Gary Rhodes restaurant that they have there, it really is a lovely meal and actually not as pricy as you would have thought!

Also we travelled in July to Dubai, be careful of this - it's hot hot hot!!!

Stayed in the royal meridien 1st week in July for 6 nights on a package with virgin but a tip was to price up flights n hotel separately on Expedia then get a tour operator to price match that way you benefit from not just atol protection but abta too. Got this package flying with emirates on b&b basis for £850
each
Anyway to hotel. Private transfer from airport bout 30-40 mins depending on traffic I'd estimate hotel is approx 20 -25 miles from airport.
Check in quick and efficient served dates n juice in lobby whilst waiting. We were able to go to our room early at 10 am and swap our last days breakfast as checking out at 5am to check in day. Beware tho hotel will ask to reserve 1500 AED approx £ 280 at time of travel on your credit card and be assured unless u live like a monk or are all inc you will probably spend it
!! Especially At £9 a pint in the hotel !! Having said that nothing on Dubai is cheap except for the taxis which you'd expect when petrol is cheaper than water! On that note make sure you get the official metered Dubai taxi and not a private hire cab who charge more!
Staff were efficient pleasant courteous and helpful. Everyone speaks English not just in the hotel but out and about But to varying degrees of fluency. Dubai is a multi national destination. There is a prominent presence from India Pakistan and Indonesia in the service industry.
Despite the courtesy I had a little nagging feeling that "friendliness" was a little false but not sure if that is just impersonal nature of posh hotels. I definitely got a feeling of "being observed" at times about the hotel Again dunno if this was just staff being vigilant to comings and goings. None of this detracted from our experience just my personal feelings even if somewhat paranoid lol
Apparently this is one if the oldest beach hotels in Dubai and by old I mean about 20 years lol compared to the rest of Dubai s shiny glittering prizes it might be considered in external architectural terms as dated but internally it's as good as any five star in the world.
The hotel is decorated to a very high standard and conveys a feeling of understated opulence and luxury. Our room was comfortable but standard. No wow factor. Mini fridge AC ipod docking station and tv tea and coffee making facilities which weren't refreshed after use although the mini fridge was checked on a daily basis for usage !
Our room in the main building had a lovely little balcony south facing over looking the pools and out to sea with the palm and Atlantis in the distance. We had requested a high floor room and this was honoured consequently The sunsets were delightful to see.
Complimentary bottles of water were provided every day as was a variety of fruits nice touch. Linen and towels also changed daily with evening turn down and little choccie service. Whilst at the pool staff would circulate on a regular basis with cold fragranced flannels. Bottles of water to spray and spritz and little ice slushies buckets of ice were available from the bar to keep drinks and si cream cool !
Breakfast buffet was vast and extensive the best range and quality I've come across. Something for everyone. A very international array of fayre. Taking breakfast out on the terrace was lovely. And the cheeky crows and birds referred to in other reviews quite entertaining rather than annoying as too the "stray" cat or two. Not bothersome at all. Everywhere as you would expect in the hotel is spotless and maintained to an exceptionally high standard. We had a drink in the piano bar after a day on the desert. This was relaxing and made for quite a contrast from the hot dry desert. We also tried the Rhodes cocktail bar which was uber cool playing chilled house music. And had dinner in the al khaima restaurant. A tented Arabic styled al fresco dining affair. Again very cool back lit by the ultra modern Dubai skyline made for a sublime juxtaposition.
There a three pools extensive manicured lawns and palm tree lined vistas. We favoured the larger pool. Ample sunbeds never a problem getting one. And one particular hight light was the swim up pool bar. U know ur on holiday when u swim up at midday and order two piña coladas lol. Hence bar bill lol.
Everyday an itinerary would be left in the room and there was so much going on in the hotel from the different array of restaurants of which we only scratched the surface to kids clubs or entertainment. As it was our first time in Dubai we spent everyday doing something outside the hotel sight seeing exclusions etc but you could quite happily have never set foot outside it as they catered for every need for all age ranges
There was a short walk down to the private beach which was vast and empty and also well served by the beach bar and sun beds. I had the poshest bag of chips for a tenner !! There are golf carts to take u every where within the hotel grounds not because it's that massive but because its an effort walking in the searing heat at this time of year 40 plus deg. The sea was like taking a bath 37 deg and I could have happily spent all day there. Oh I have to say as well that the pools had at least 2 life guards each. Everywhere in the hotel was very well staffed
The spa and gym were of a very high standard and the hamman pools just divine.
There was a smallish high end shopping mall In the hotel prices for souvenirs seemed comparable with the malls
Out and about we used taxis mainly but used the metro once and is even cheaper than taxis only pence really. The nearest metro station is about 10 15 min walk down by the marina. There is still alot of construction and side walk pavement building going on in Dubai and going out on foot can be inconvenient in places but we managed not only to walk back along the main highway from the city after alighting at the metro from the palm Atlantis but also a 5k run which was an awesome way to orient ourselves to out local environs. 500 m from the hotel is "the walk" a 1k stretch of shops and boutique s lined up with international favourites such as KFC. Subway etc. a very pleasant beach front but still under construction area.
The hotels sister is the grosvenor which is less than 1k as the crow flies but 10 mins in the complimentary shuttle bus in the one way system. The Buddha bar is an absolute must if ur staying at this end of Dubai I'd even say it would be worth a trip out if the city for a evening out. A high end über cool orientalise fusion cuisine bar restaurant right on the marina. Again not cheap But very worth the experience. And look out for the car porn in the forms of Lamborghini s Porsche Ferrari etc parked outside.
So all in all a truly amazing hotel experience and I would go back in a flash. You really won't be disappointed jus make sure to get a good deal and bring plenty of cash !!
Ps as fir trips out dont miss the burj khalifa at sunset. Dubai fountains breathtaking and free!! Get a table at a restaurant water side and watch a awe inspiring spectacle. Afternoon tea at the burj al Arab at £80 a head stupidly expensive but for a few hours get treated like royalty in the worlds only 7 star hotel !! And it's the only way you get inside. Swim with the dolphins at the Atlantis on the palm and stay all day in the awesome water park. Make sure u take the metro back to get best views if the Atlantis. A dinner cruise around the Dubai creek is pleasant and civilised. High end cuisine. A desert safari is also a must camel rides Bedouin camps shisha pipes etc jus make sure u choose ur trip provider carefully as there are 31 set ups like this and quality and vfm varies. And finally just be respectful of local culture. We encountered no problems holding hands as a couple in the tourist areas and I saw women dressed far skimpier than me. I always took a light pashmina out to cover shoulders. Dubai is an amazing place. You'll love it. Any questions please feel free to message me.

This was our third visit to Le Royal Meridien and it was just as good as our previous visits. We were celebrating my daughters qualification as a lawyer after eight years of hard slog so we were very pleased to be given a lovely room on the thirteenth floor with a superb view. We looked out over the gardens and pools and over to the sea. We could see the Palm and the Atlantis in the distance and the Burj way off to the right.
My daughter was given a bottle of sparkling wine and a plate of truffles to mark the occasion which were much appreciated.
It was very hot -about 48 degrees so the gardens and pools were just the job. We had a balcony but it really was too hot to sit out. So we just spent our time lounging in the shade by the pools. Wonderful!
The service here is just amazing. Everyone is so friendly and cannot do enough for you. I would have liked to leave a combined tip for all the staff who made our holiday so wonderful but the management doesn't do this. You give tips to individuals if you want to but I think that the chefs and other behind the scenes staff miss out with this arrangement.

We are now going to save up for another trip and look forward to stating at the Royal Meridien again in the not too distant future. It is just perfect. Thank you all so much.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with a view over the grounds to the sea. it is worth upgrading to a club tower...

It is our first time in Dubai and luckily we went to Le Royal Meridian Resort and Spa.The hotel is so friendly, elegant and relaxing that we want to come back as soon as possible. (If you read all of this report I can tell you some fantastic things we found at Le Royal Meridian. It was sooooo good !) The ocean swimming is so perfect, but more about that in a minute.

Le Royal Meridian is opulent, but some how down to earth as well. We Aussies like that because we are a relaxed bunch of people. (There is big screen sports stuff at one of the restaurants). The staff and managers are all so helpful and caring, you can't believe it. They just keep helping you and helping you, so you feel you can be yourself. and ask for all your needs. The beds, pillows, doonas and rooms are out of this world; the best we've ever experienced and we have travelled other countries.

The aircon is superb and quiet with individual controls for each room and the air is fresh, cool and natural smelling. Also the thing that amazed my husband is that a lot of people that he met and spoke to were regular clients and still raving about this resort even after many visits.

You can buy swim toys in the shop here if you want and spend hours in the beautiful pools or under the palms, or you can go anywhere easily and there are hotel shuttles as well as very cheap taxis. We gave 10 dirham tips at times, ($2.50 AUS ) but no one expects you to tip, and staff even refused tips at times that is how lovely and kindly they are.

They must have great training and attitude her, because they just want to serve you and serve you and serve you. We are experienced travellers, mature age, (young at heart!) - but saw all ages of guests all very happy here - and we have stayed many times in 5 star resorts and one 6 star, but this place beats them all.

Do not go anywhere else, seriously, try this place first. You will not be disappointed!

After a few days you feel that you have become a family member and that is a gooood feeling.

Dress Code: I dressed up for the evening meal on somedays and other times I wore my Aussie, relaxed smart casual wear and that fitted in perfectly well too. Of course outdoors around the pools, restaurants and deck chairs you wear your swimmers of choice. Anything you like .

When we went out to visit the fantastic and fascinating markets I simply wore comfortable clothes that covered the upper arms and down just below the knees. I felt good showing respect to the local dress code outside the hotel. Everywhere I went, I felt safe and everyone is polite to you.

I came to swim in the Arabian Ocean and that's what I did most mornings. The water is clean and crystal clear and the water and beach area, that is part of the hotel grounds is the cleanest that I ever I ever saw and I have been to white haven beach in Australia and it is up there with white beach. I'm serious. It's soooo beautiful. Even on a hot day around 30 - 40 degrees celcius (or higher in mid summmer) you can swim in the ocean or one of the three lovely swimming pools. Please try to come to this gorgeous gorgeous resort.

Have a ball, we did. Aussie Rose - Melobourne
