Regent Palace Hotel

Stayed for a week on a business visit. Booked by my company's local rep stating the reason as place near to eating joints (which is of course true).
The hotel is old, not well maintained, satellite TV channels are very limited (almost 2 or 3 hindi channels and 1 malyalam, that's it).
NEVER USE THE MINI BAR, not for cost. I had a guest and offered him a drink (as you can get liquor only in hotels and bars in Dubai). The supposed to be expensive drink that was kept in the MINI BAR was opened and contaminated (rather smelled urine). When I brought to the notice to the hotel manager with proof, they apologized and sent a fruit basket, but offered me not to charge us for that contaminated drink (how at all did they thought that they could bill and as a customer service waive that off).
Hotel lacks big time customer service, starting from the bell boy till the hotel manager, no one has any authority or say to do anything to a customer.
NOT A RIGHT PLACE FOR BUSINESS VISITS, can consider for other kind of visits may be due to cost.

I arrived yesterday everything seems nice until you look closer. My bed had soiled sheets that were changed but when they took off the sheets the mattress cover was blood stained!!! That was then changed. The carpets are filthy oh and bring your own wash towels.

The hotel does smell of curry but I happen to like the smell of curry. If you don't it may be a problem for you. The hotel is Indian owned and caters to that population, no problem for me but if you don't like a heavily Indian influenced restaurant don't stay here!

I requested an iron and ironing board they brought an iron with frayed wires that were tapped up only to be replaced with another frayed chord then the third was good. The ironing board was dirty and that was replaced. The pool was not working and the night club will prevent sleeping!

I booked a trip with Anna a safari... She is a thief! When the suv came the want me to sit in the tiny jump seats in the third row for a 45 minute ride ah I don't think so! After much arguments the driver pealed off. I requested a refund the Dubai police was called to only finally tell me it was my fault..blank stare. He told me your in dubai not your country its your fault! I think they want you to say something back so they can arrest you for no reason! Just wow. the manager could care less he sat near by just doing other things.

I would recommend this place to no one

Room Tip: Pitch high floor if you want sleep or stay else where!

We stayed at this hotel in September 2012. The room was good. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast was very good and had a good variety (Indian + Continental). The location is great - the metro and Burjuman mall at walking distance. Overall, we had a nice experience.

The hotels location is very strategic; it is located a few meters from the metro station and this allows one to access the larger part of the city at very affordable fares. The hotel is also opposite a shopping mall and there are a couple of convenience stores behind the hotel. The hotel's facilities are good; wonderful customer service, clean rooms and i loved the simple roof top swimming pool. The gentleman handling the tours Mr Mayan and exceptionally great, he organised most of the tours and was very pleasant to deal with, many thanks Mr Mayan. The food was great, they have a number of restaurants plus a pub within the hotel. Regent palace is great for someone on the move while in Dubai.

I think I have found a place to stay for my stop-overs on my way to Europe.
This hotel is located in a very convenient location, just a very short stroll away from the only place in Dubai the 2 lines on the Metro meet which gets you everywhere in no time for a little fee only.
Facilities are convenient, rooms clean and spacious enough. I really appreciated to pool on the rooftop for a bit of dip to refresh myself at the end of the day.
Nothing fancy, but for the price, this is a fantastic place to stay for a couple of nights nearby Dubai's centre.

Room Tip: High up in the levels.

Good hotel.
Mostly caters for Indian guests.
Go for a room on the 4th or 5th floors otherwise you will be disturbed by the nightclub.
Spacious rooms and helpful staff.
Breakfast just ok.Lot of Indian food.Breads, croissants etc could be more fresh.
Great plus is the Metro Station and Burjaman mall so the Location is Excellent.
Some good restaurants nearby also including a Pizza Hut.
At the travel desk in the lobby deal with the Lady from Philippines and not with the Indian guy.He was unhelpful and quoted more prices for tours.
Will stay there again definitely.

Room Tip: As high a floor as possible. If possible away from the road.

This is my second trip to Dubai inside 3 months. I chose this hotel due to location. I booked on booking.com, a great website by the way. I upgraded to an executive suit. All hotels in Dubai have Air conditioning, in my room at the Regent it only had one setting. Freezing. I had to turn it off at night as it sounded like a plane landing. But that didn't really make much difference, the noise from the nightclub on the Mezzanine floor( I was on the 3rd) was pounding. The hotel has 2-3 clubs by the way. I'm normally not a light sleeper but it took a bit longer to fall asleep.
The service in the Hotel is pleasant and helpful thou.
The decor in the room is a bit sparse and dated. But it had the biggest television i had ever seen. Maybe save a bit on the TV and spend a bit more on the decor? just a suggestion, and maybe the soundproofing/ Air-conditioning too?
Breakfast is over average. The buffet is more to the Asian/Indian palate but they have a good omelet/egg station where the chef makes you any kind of egg you want.
Generally most hotels in Dubai are good, and most are fairly new. You have to respect local traditions/customs but in general Dubai is very geared to the tourist population. Taxi's are fairly cheap, but the same trip can vary in price even thou they have taxi meter's.
It is very warm there most of the year, on my first trip in July it was 45 degrees and this last trip was mid-late 30's.

Room Tip: No idea. Luck of the draw i guess.
