“Great Value in Dubai”
Reviewed October 21, 2008

My Husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Ibis World Trade Centre in August 2008. The hotel is great value for the price with clean linin, comfortable rooms and very friendly service with a smile. It was the one place in Dubai where as a Western women, I was not stared at as though I was a leper. A great find and somewhere I would recommend and return to if I ever go back to Dubai.

Excellent for a business stay, - on the same site as the exhibition centre.
Clean sheets on the bed each day, reliable internet connection.
The bar service is second to none
Highly recommended for the price

This Hotel was really nice and clean, bedding and sheets were changed every day!!!! The rooms were compact but ideal for a short stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The only downfall was it would have been nice to have Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room.

  • Liked — Friendly warm atmosphere
  • Disliked — No Swimming pool and no tea and coffee facilities in room, otherwise fantastic

The cheapest hotel I could find and quite impressed...
Almost 5 star service..
Beautiful clean rooms..
Free shuttle to and from Hotel and to a number of large shopping malls..
Only way to get around Dubai is by taxi which adds up..
The heat here is something you have never felt and a bit of a shame that there is NO pool..
Would prob advise you to spend a little more and find a hotel with a pool... Its just incredibly HOT!!!!
MUST DO::: DESERT ARABIAN SAFARI its a incredible highlight

  • Liked — Clean and the free shuttle
  • Disliked — No pool.. and the internet is not free, atleast free wireless asia does that

Having stayed at the Novotel before, I thought the Ibis with its international reputation would be also good. Wrong.

Firstly, it is not that much cheaper (if at all) than the Novotel. The main problems are that there is no room service, very slow laundry service, poor internet connection and the rooms are like student accommodation with awful bathrooms (just shower).

Most annoyingly, there are no bell boys as this is not "ibis policy" despite the fact of very affordable labour in Dubai and that many staff who look like bell boys, stand around doing nothing.

One plus point - they serve strongbow.

I booked at $126/night at ibis.com website. I decided to stay another night. They raised priced to $153, even though it was still $126 on online and simply denied that was the case.

"The room rate fluctuates everyday," front desk person says, but not the case online at all.

My experience with other hotels is that they continue to honor the online price when you decide to stay longer. Not here.

No parking. There's paid, hourly parking nearby. There's a tiny free lot next to the building but always full.

Internet is $22 a day and of course they don't bother to tell you that free wireless access streams in from World Trade Center next door.

Oh, you forgot to bring your laptop? No problem. there are computers you can use, at $22 AN HOUR!

(I exchanging the rate at the fixed rate of 3.67 dhs per USD)

Breakfast, just an ordinary buffet, $18.

They even charge for using the pool at Novotel next door.

My impression of IBIS hotels in Europe (mostly Germany) was that they weren't so greedy, trying to pile up charges every which way they can. I remember free laptop connected to internet in every IBIS in Germany. No such thing here.

Attitude at front desk: take it or leave it. We really don't give a hoot what you think, which I think is understandable because they have steady stream of convention goers at the Trade Center.

Rooms, old and rundown, and tiny. Showerhead loose and kept swiveling back to the side. Sink cloggs. Wood moldings chipped. Carpet old.

Not within walking distance of anywhere, such as supermarkets and convenience stores. They have you captive here and forced to buy everything from them at high prices.

I guess ideal as far as price for someone attending the Trade Center, but if you need to work on the Internet in your room and eat in the hotel all the time, plan to spend a lot more than just the room rate.

We stayed in this hotel for 1 night on our return to Dubai from Muscat in Oman. There is no comparision between this hotel and this Arabian Courtyard which we stayed in first. The room is small and basic but perfectly functionable. There is an Italian restaurant in the hotel where we had our lunch and I have to say that it was delicious. We had the buffet breakfast which was extra to the €100 we paid for the room. Typical buffet but nice and filling. We were able to leave our luggage in the secure left luggage room for the whole day which was a great bonus and there was also a complimentary shuttle bus to the airport which saved us another few dirhams – liked these services. As an affordable hotel in Dubai it is great – you get what you pay for really. You are located in Sheik Zayed Road so near the malls and Jumeriah beach. We stayed in the Arabian Courtyard for approx €140 so for the extra €40 (which actually included breakfast) I think it is worth paying that little bit extra due to the superiority of the hotel.

  • Liked — The price and the services such as left luggage in secure room and shuttle to beach/airport
  • Disliked — The room was tiny but it is budget accommodation so not an issue
