“good hotel centrally located”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012

if you are looking for an affordable stay in the center of Dubai, this is definitely one of the good hotels that you should consider staying. I have stayed couple of times in this one and it is always a good choice. Friendly staff, helpful. Walking distance to Dubai Mall, if you are up for a serious walk. Otherwise by taxi it is less than 5 mins to get there. Good breakfast buffet tasty food. The rooms are not very new and they are not very spacious either as compared to other hotels that you can get in the Emirates. However this is still a good for the money type of hotel.

Room Tip: I rather get a room facing north east ( the ibis hotel side) tends to be calmer...

We stayed for 3 nights and found the rooms to be clean and of a good size the bed was comfortable the bath room clean.room service was prompt. the Desk staff were very friendly and efficient and we had meals in both the dinning room and lounge and would recommend both. there are taxis out the front that are cheap fast and the drivers are friendly also there is a train station behind the trade centre so travel around the city is easy.the desk will exchange currency and a small souvenir shop is situated near the night club.

Good things:
Location: central, handy for airport, beaches, several business districts.
Smart lobby area, nice restaurant and bar: very good food although a little pricey.
Clean rooms, decent telly with lots of reasonable channels for English speakers.
My WiFi was free for some reason (but I expect that as a business traveller - always resent having to pay for that).
Usual, friendly cleaning staff, always with a polite 'good morning' etc.

Bad things:
As per another reviewer on here, I had to change rooms after the first night as mine had a seriously overpowering smell of mildew - just one night and I woke up with a sore throat, it was that bad. My 2nd room started the same smell after a few days...

I nearly walked out on the third morning for another hotel as there was no hot water. It took me an hour and an engineer's visit to advise 'oh sorry, we're cleaning the tanks'. Not very useful when I'm rushing and need to shower prior to a full day of business meetings.

The bed... Dear God I have never slept on such a hard, uncomfortable bed (in both rooms I stayed in) in my life. I'm on my final night here and just sitting on it with my laptop, my backside is actually NUMB from just sitting here... Now that's a novelty from a hotel bed.

However - this isn't 5 star and I'm not paying a 5-star price so you have to take the rough with the smooth. Next time, though, I will pay a little more and stay at the Monarch just around the corner which was pricey but imipeccable. I would've given it only a 2 point rating as I really didn't enjoy the stay so much, but apart from the bad points above it was actually ok.

A very clean, well-run hotel and in a handy location. The breakfast offers a fantastic choice of food - and if you get down early enough, you can be seated outside if it's not too hot. All the staff I came in contact with were polite and friendly. The small shop on site sells the usual tourist gaff, as well as basic essentials including toiletries and some snack food. The room we had was very clean, basic but well equipped with tea and coffee facilities, extra pillows, a desk and a small sofa. The bar serves a good variety of wine and beers and some lovely non-alcholic drinks too. The alcoholic drinks are not cheap, but that is standard in the UAE. The only negative thing to say really is that the wifi is not complimentary. An added bonus was the valet parking service that we made use of (and free too!). The pool is a decent size and was never over-crowded. Didn't make used of the sauna or steam facilities as these were being refurbished. Certainly recommend this hotel for business and holiday makers alike.

The Novotel Trade Centre Dubai is what you would expect from any Novotel hotel worldwide. Clean rooms at a somewhat reasonable price! As far as Dubai hotels go this hotel can be considered mid price range but the hotel makes its money in other ways eg. The airport shuttle service has been cancelled but the Novotel can arrange a car for 100 AED however an airport taxi will only cost you 45 AED! WiFi isn't free, even in public areas which seems a bit unfair when lower priced hotels offer free WiFi as standard nowadays. As far as rooms go in Dubai hotels we thought our triple room was on the small side but it was furnished adequately with pleasant decor and was spotlessly clean. Breakfast wasn't included in our room rate and as we were leaving early for our connecting flight to London we didn't bother trying the food. The location of the Novotel is perfect if you are transit and want to make a quick visit to see Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world - book in advance online if you want to go to the top by searching atthetop in google) or a wander around Dubai Mall as it is a five minute ride away.
In general staff were very welcoming but when we needed help tracing a lost phone in a taxi they really didn't want to offer much help. Make sure you get a receipt from your taxi driver in case you find yourself in the same situation as it is the only way of identifying the car and driver.
