Description: With an ambience of Dubai in the 1960’s and with the taste of Authentic Emirati Cuisine, AL FANAR RESTAURANT and CAFE will revive the memories of Dubai when it was a small town on the shore of the Arabian Gulf. From the moment you enter the restaurant, a bewildering scene greets you to see the very relaxed mood of the time-fragments of local scenes: A Bedouin tendering his flock of camel and goats; a donkey loaded with kerosene to feed the lamps of the town, an old Land Rover just parked ready to unload the goods from a long haul; the landscape dotted with tents and barasti huts where the locals spend lazy summer nights outdoors.

“A must”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2014

First experience with Emarati food, it was very good, so we repeated it again in less than a month, what we loved more is the chicken nashef, the meat machboos, while their desert was amazing especially the Luqaimat.....very tasty....we highly recommend it for an Emarati food experience.

“Great food and not expensive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

This restaurant in in the Festival City Mall, so if you are staying at the Crowne Plaza or the Intercontinental it is right on your doorstep just inside the mall at the rear. The restaurant is set in a re-created period of Dubai in the 1960´s and it is very well done. The service is excellent and the traditional Emerati food is delicious. The plates can be shared and the bill is very reasonable. Order one plate less than you think you need as the portions are large.

“GREAT EMIRATI CUISINE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

Lunch in Dubai! Nice outdoor seating along the water. Wonderful decor and incredible service. I was the first customer for lunch and they served me early. Very accommodating and excellent food. Arabian-style coffee in a great, shaded setting. Dining indoors is also available. I would return!

“Nice decoration and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2013

The restaurant is big and nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly and eager to make recommendations. The menu has a wide selection and we had Salatat Al Fanar (mixed salad), Naghar Mashwi (grilled squid) and Beryani Dajaj (chicken served with rice). All the dishes were good. The grilled squid was particularly delicious. We also had Khanfaroush (doughnuts) for dessert with Arabian tea.

The prices were reasonable and the service was good. It is a nice restaurant to sample some Emirati dishes.

“Just like mother used to make”

If you were Emirati, of course. A very authentic taste of local food, very different from the usual Arabic fare. Not hugely expensive either!
