We were picked up from our hotel after 3pm and there were already a family in the vehicle that were not in a very good mood so that set the tone! Our driver was wonderful and apologised profusely at our first stop. I really enjoyed the dune bashing but at times I was terrified and thought it was a bit monotenous after a while. When we arrived at the camp there were a lot of groups there so difficult to get a seat as a lot of the tables were reserved (?) You had to serve yourself dinner which was very average. I was really looking forward to the bellydancing and was disappointed as I thought there may be more crowd participation. It was an extremely long tour and I think it could have been cut down by a couple of hours.

We took an afternoon tour which was absolutely amazing!!! the driver ws very friendly and collected us from our hotel. We drove to Al ain where he took us to a place where you could hire 4 wheelers to drive around the desert for a bit. from there we drove into the desert and he stopped so we could take photos as the sun was setting. (a sunset in the desert is soooooo beautiful!!!) from there we sped off into the dunes. My husband was screaming like a lunatic which was so funny for me. that guy knew how to handle the car cos he was climbing those dunes like he was on tar lol.I thought we were gonna overturn the way the car drive almost sideways. so so so much fun!!!!! after the dune bashing we drove to a camp where we got to take a very short ride on a camel and take our picture on it. at the camp we were entertained by a belly dancer and an arab guy doing his Arabian dance. the tour included a buffet meal. There was a few stalls where i bought a beatuful vase that had our names inprinted in sand and filled with different colour desert sand. I really enjoyed this and really you cannot go to Dubai and do a desert safari cos tat would be like going to miami and not going to the beach :)

“Not to be missed trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

We started off on a sour note with an ill-tempered driver who was shouting at some of the guests. Fortunately, when we reached the safari site we two were shifted to another vehicle with a pleasant driver. The ride itself was quite adventurous and we came across a couple of vehicles which had got stuck in the sand and one that had almost overturned. We were lucky that no one in our vehicle threw up (we heard stories from other vehicles). The dinner in a desert set-up with a round of belly dancing was authentic. The food (a mix of Arab and Indian cuisine) was excellent; liquor was available on payment and the stalls selling souvenirs well-stocked. We were taken care of by the operators till we got back to the hotel. A pleasant evening!

“Boring after the Dune Bashing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

On my first trip to Dubai, we (family of 4) went for the much recommended Desert Safari. Our driver was extremely friendly and it was easy to communicate with him since he new Hindi. He came to pick us up at about 3:45 after we picked up to other people and headed out to the desert. The dune bashing was an amazing experience. The thrill of the ride as well as the beauty of the natural landscape really made the experience an enjoyable one. Once we reached the camp, there were about 30-35 other groups there. There were a couple of shops, henna, booths for drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and sheesha. A little way outside the campsite, there's a lot of empty desert area that one can explore. It's extremely peaceful and great to get some peace of mind. Returning to the hustle and bustle of the camp, we were served some disgusting starters. The dancing and belly dancing were entertaining but after long intervals. The dinner served up was decent but overall the culinary experience wasn't too great. The experience as a whole just went downhill from the dune bashing so I would advise you to take the morning safari which is shorter and doesn't make you sit at the camp for so long.

“Must Must do!!”

What an experience. Trip to Dubai is incomplete without a desert safari. Eat light before the trip. Back seats are not the best if you want to take photographs
