“Quite Good”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

WE had lunch today at Soy in Ibn Battuta Mall and enjoyed it very much. My wife had a BBQ chicken a fruit salad and I had Beijing Stylr crispy lamb. Both very goo. The place was pleasant, nice decor, service was very good.

“Not impressed”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

Went to Ibn Batutta mall around lunchtime and recognized the Soy brand from a visit to a sister restaraunt in Doha, Qatar so I was expecting similar quality.
We asked for outdoor seating as the weather was perfect. Once seated theere was a heated exchange between the waiter who seated us and the manager about putting us outside. Not a great start.
I ordered Hong Kong Chilli Shrimp. There were two tiny slices of red chilli and that was the flavour. I think one of the shrimps was also not properly cooked as I felt a bit ill when I returned home later.
Will not be returning here in a hurry

“Delicious food but AWFUL SERVICE”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We order a food from this restaurant at least twice a month and we absolutely love the food. Food is delicious and good value for money. Delivery takes 45 minutes and it is always accurate.

Whenever we call those kabayan girls always try to register us and it takes 6-7 minutes to do so, the staff barely speak English and never seems to know what they have in their menu. It is so stressful to make an order with those unprofessional staff which take minimum 10-12 minutes.....how hard is to take an order which is 2 starters and 1 main course!!!!!!

We have complained 10 time to the managers of different brunches but it seems that THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN.

“Mistakes happen...but please inform the customer”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

Midweek 7.30pm we were looking for a restaurant that was quieter than the Ibn Battuta food court and the information desk directed us outside to China Garden. Checked out Lime Tree but they didn't have anything that appealed, walked past the Lebanese and Turkish restaurants to Soy. Plenty of space inside and not busy. Several staff attended to us as there were only 2 other tables occupied, we ordered spinach & mushroom dim sum, red Thai curry and wok tofu, also a bottle of sparkling water. A small dish of prawn crackers were presented.
After 15minutes, a couple came in and sat 2 tables from us. While reading the menu, a dim sum dish was put on their table and they appeared confused but accepted the dish. A further 10minutes and we enquired where our meal was and were told that dim sum takes 20minutes to cook from fresh. The curry and tofu is put on our table after 35minutes but still no dim sum, which finally arrived 10minutes later, no word of apology or explanation.
It was very tasty and worth the wait, however the tofu sauce was like thick glue, not a pleasant texture. The curry was average with fish pieces and whole prawns.
Cost: Prawn red curry 66Dhs/Tofu stir fry 40Dhs/Dim Sum 4 pieces 28Dhs/Water 16Dhs.
Total cost for the 3 dishes and half litre water was 150Dirhams.
