A buddy of mine told me about a little fish shack that sells amazing, fresh seafood I needed to check out just down from Jumeirah Beach Hotel. I went down with expectations of grabbing take-away fish n chips and sitting on the beach, but instead stumbled across a bustling little low-key restaurant with crowds of people from all walk of life.

Being my first time there I was bemused by the lack of menu (there's only 3 things to order anyway!), proper seating (plastic stools) and actual cutlery (you're eating with your fingers!) - but that's what made it so awesome! It's completely opposite to the try-hard, pretentious restaurants that fill Dubai where you can expect crap waiters, long waits for food and a bill that's far more than the dining experience is worth.

The food was absolutely amazing - you MUST order the shrimp with your fish!!! (but only grab a 1/4 kilo if you're a light eater). It's not quite as cheap as Ravi's, but for 120dhs my partner and I were absolutely stuffed and we didn't finish all the food!

Just remember - THIS PLACE IS NO FRILLS!!! I've laughed at a few stupid reviews where people have come here expecting a regular Dubai restaurant experience!

...this place is for you.
It's 20 minutes outside the city. Hard to find. You sit outside on plastic chairs while stray cats scurry underfoot. It's windy and not very comfortable. There's no menu. They serve 3 dishes. Pampano / pomfret, Hamour / seabass and shrimp. All 3 are prepared the same way - marinated in spicy marinade and oil fried. All 3 are served the same way with either indian or arabic bread, curry sauce, and raw cabbage and onion. That's it. AND IT'S ALL WORTH IT! It isn't owned by Gordon Ramsey and Michael Mina never heard of it. And yet... the shrimp are good, the pampano is great and the seabass is absolutely divine. If you are spending one night in Dubai and have a choice between Burj Kalifa and this place, come here.

Well, it is a bit complicated to find this place if you dont know the exact location. It is not even on Jumerah Road, it is hidden in between the villas and close to the sea.
I got to know about this small "lost Jem of Jumeirah" due to the Emirates onboard magazine "Open Sky" . When i've covered the article i became curious what is that place and yesterday we had enjoy a very delicious dinner. Do not expect the proper restaurant or even a coffee shop, that place reminds you the asian style open kitchen almost on the street, but inside it is very clean and no fish stink at all. By the time we have been expected for our simple dinner the place became crowded indeed and queue has grown in front of us. Europeans, locals, tourists - a very different public. We were waiting for the order nearly for 30 mins but we did enjoy. Carry, paratha, and hommour with shrimps. Everything've been packed in simple foil for take away and we consumed it on sea side view breathtaking view to Burj Al Arab. Mmm, tasty! Extremely fresh and good, even those who doesnt like Indian Cuisine a lot will enjoy, the spices smell very tasty and healthy.

you must try this fish, i found out about this place through Anthony bordain No reservations, and had to try it out. they only have one way of cooking the fishes which is Deep fry. they have shrimps and Fish (catch of the day) thats it. i highly recomend it. its a must living in dubai. the place is very simple and traditional. nothing fancy. but the food and the view of burj Al arab makes up for the seating. MUST TRY . Its one of the gems of dubai.

You have only two choice of food here: Spicy deep fried shrimps and spicy deep fried fish.. comes with nan bread, steam rice, gravy, cabbage salad as you choose. Don't expect a fancy dish and cleanliness but it is worth to try once at least. It opens only for dinner, and expect a huge queue in front of the kitchen to order your food and then wait your name to be called by waitress and prepare your plastic stools and table outside on the sand... :)
