Sat in a booth overlooking the street though couldn't see down below directly as balcony slightly set back so generally watched the passing fancy cars. I had chicken tikka masala and my wife had chicken madani and we shared a portion of plain rice and some butter naan. All of this was good, only slight disappointment was the poppadoms that you had to but as a portion of three and they seemed like the ones you get in a packet in tescos rather then freshly made ones.

Service was good throughout, didn't rush us despite people waiting to get a table on the balcony area.

In this area there are a lot of food chains and uninspiring resturants, however we were delighted to come across this place, we were shown to a table on the balcony, this is above the street and you can watch the world go by and look out to sea (ignoring the standard Dubai building works). The decor is cool and the staff attentive, making some helpful sugestions whilst we ordered.
We loved the food, it was well cooked and very tasty. Dishes we liked were the Black Pepper chicken, goan fish curry and the tawa ghosht.
Given the location, they do not serve alchohol, so unfotunately you will not get your Cobra or Kingfisher here, but very good regardless.

We should have known not to dine here after the surly hostess outside rolled her eyes as we browsed the menu and took us up to the restaurant in the service elevator which was like a sauna. We were informed before we even went up that we would not get a window seat, but were keen for curry so went in. Fortunately there was a table in the air-conditioned area at the front, as the main aprt of the restaurant appears not to have a/c. The service was slow; we waited ages for our drinks. The grade of chicken used was very poor, and the lighting dim so along with the fact that it was cold, it was difficult to tell if the meat was cooked, or just a darker part of the chicken. The lamb saag was unlike anything we had ever tased before and had clearly been standing around as it had a skin on the top. The only reedeming factor is that when they asked at the end if everything had been ok, and we told them our opinion, they apologised and offered us free desert. We just weren't hungry any more!

This is a hard to find restaurant on the 1st floor of the JBR - the part of JBR none ever actually spends much time walking around.
The decor - tired, mildewy and creaky surpassed the "balcony" (a crudely plastic "glass" sheet enclosing a proper balcony - so you have at best obscured views) in "Naffness Quotient."
Attentive waiters though - very shocking, in a good way, for Dubai - particularly for a small, non licensed, out of the way place.
Starters - Onion Bhajis - pretty good/Tandoori fish - not so good. Fish tasted unwashed - likely not remotely fresh. Mains - all so SO sweet - the sauces for the curries were heavy and laden with sugar. Diabetes in a dish. This, we suspect, is an attempt to cover the poor quality of the main ingredients.
We only went to 1) try a new place and 2) because we had a 2 for 1 voucher. For the money, 4 of us could have had a far better meal/experience and saved a ton of cash had we gone to Ravi's>
Avoid this hole - stick with Ravi's!

The actual restaurant is tucked away in a quite spot by the hilton and looks very nice and clean.
The service in this place compaired to anywhere in Dubai is terrible 20 mins before getting a drinks menu.
Then we ordered the food we were cautious only starters. Lucky for us the food was terrible. the worst indian food I have ever tasted.
