Went on an early Christmas do for the well heralded Friday brunch with a group of 9 friends in early December. The food was excellent and the variety was vast, they literally have chefs on every part of the brunch ensuring that the food is of top, top quality. The food is all buffet which was not a surprise, but at 550aed you would hope service would be exceptional and it wasn't. We were often having to prompt several different waiters several different times to get the drinks that they do serve to the table and the rest of the drinks you have to go and collect yourself, which doesn't even happen at a 220 a head rotana brunch. Perhaps the staffing budget is too heavily weighted towards the chefs and not enough to the tables. In my opinion when a brunch goes beyond 500 there needs to be something that sets it apart from the others, i.e. Service or brilliant location and being honest, Zeng he's in the mina a salam is way better on both counts. The extra bit of price (450 for Saffron) as opposed to the Saffron brunch keeps away the party people and the atmosphere is very relaxed even with an average age of 40 I'd say. I'd probably not go back but can say I've done it.
