Been coming here for 5 years. Today was the best lunch EVER. Perfect roast beef, best outside of my mothers kitchen. Heartily recommended.

I have had Friday Brunch in Dunes a number of times with my family and friends and have never been disappointed. Chef Harry and his team cannot do enough for you. Amazing seafood, great Sushi and Sashimi. Last week they brought in a 45kg Tuna and made sashimi to order. The hot buffet never fails to impress and the sweet buffet is excellent. In recent weeks the buffet has been extended to include Hoi Ann (Vietnamese) and Shang Palace (Chinese) both award winning restaurants in their own right. The house wines are good and included. Great value from a welcoming establishment. Highly recommended!

This new restaurant franchise in the Shangri La Hotel Dubai sadly fails to deliver and could let down the overall reputation of this generally excellent property. Ambiance and comfort are good, service, if anything a little overpowering but unfortunately that is where the compliments end. The food quite simply fails to deliver what might be expected from a long Michelin starred history of the franchise owner in Italy. Steak tartare was bland and swamped with far too many in appropriate shredded mixed peppers, served with neither toast nor Melba toast as might be expected. Rack of lamb main course served not as a rack but as noisettes, ordered punk but arrived medium well done. Luke warm, served on a cold plate with a way too salty non descript brown sauce and totally inadequate portion of spinach to complement the meat. The restaurant manager asked if I had enjoyed the meal and I passed these comments to him. Whilst he said he would pass this on to the chef there was no apology or any attempt at recompense and he studiously avoided me for the rest of the meal. Highlight was the desert and petit fours but what can go wrong with a fruit salad with a creamy Basel source described as minestrone. Suspect the chef trained apparently by the home restaurant is actually a pastry chef and this shows in the lack of inspiration elsewhere. Sadly let's down a generally excellent hotel. Rather painful singer, singing to music from an ipad, flat throughout did not help with the ambience but rather spoiled it. The fact she received no applause should tell the manager something surely.

Being a Shangri La we had high hopes of this brunch. There was a lot of variety but expected better quality, service was friendly however you needed to ask if you needed something. Dubai is not an easy city with so much competition around but Shangri La could do better.
