“Do not go”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

Harassed by each and every stall holder therefore never seen any of the wares inside the shops, so disgusted we left the area without making any purchases, there were several things I was interested in buying. Don't waste your time going.

“Great place to window shop and buy souvenirs”
Reviewed November 26, 2013 via mobile

Nice experience wandering through the markets and checking out the sacks of spices and aromas. It is also near the gold souk. This place is also great for buying local souvenirs. Bargaining is a necessity. If you are planning to take taxi after you're done, it can be quite a challenge, but there's a metro station about 20 mins walk away.

“Old Dubai, Autentique”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

It is really nice, it smells deliciuos, they have so many spices, good price on saffran! I recomend to buy the dates covered with chocolate, some white cumin seeds, saffran and just before crossing to the gold souk buy a fresh juice!
There is many many vendors that can be annoying but just ignore them...

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

I totally agree with what all the fellow travelers said before: enjoy the colors, enjoy the smell. But cover your ears and invent a way to ignore the annoying sales people, trying to convince you to buy in their shop and not the neighbors one. If you enjoy cooking, it is def worth a visit to bring home spice you can hardly find.

“Worth a visit but tainted by the pushy sales people”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

This was a fantastic experience of sight, smells and sounds. All the stores seemed to sell the same things but get a sales person to talk you through the different herbs and spices. This was really insightful. The sales people are extremely pushy and with the streets lined full of stores fighting for the tourists business this started to get a little uncomfortable and we found ourselves walking faster and faster trying to get out. This was such a shame as we really wanted to take in the smells and the experience but the sales people just pushed us away. You have to visit this area, the salesmen are all part of the experience - we just found it a little uncomfortable and irritating.
