A visit to the Rivington Grill was well overdue, we had seen the original restaurant overlooking the Burj Khalifa and the fountains several years ago and heard good reports, so we finally decided to try their their outlet at Madinat Jumeirah.
We enjoyed the meal, my daughter and i had cocktails, they were fine, my wife had oysters and she was very happy, i had the roast beef which was excellent, my wife had some seriously large prawns which were well done, my daughter had spatchcock chicken and my son had the fish and chips which were both ok, some of the vegetables were excellent ! The stick toffee pudding dessert was average and the irish coffee was fine.
What i struggle with is the question what is this place ? It's a grill, both locations have nice views, but its basically up market pub grub and the decor is white and for me bland. Some of the staff dress in jeans and seem more intent on getting you in and out so they can get more diners in and although the service was fast and efficient we didn't feel their was much warmth in the place. I felt decidely over dressed wearing a jacket...
At Madinat Jumeirah there are dozens of other restaurants literally next door to Rivington Grill, which have more varied menus and the dining experience is more fun.
